I've installed Linux mint about a month ago and it's been great. The only real problem that stops me from moving everything over is:
I can't properly play small untranslated Japanese games that aren't on steam
To be clear, I can run them just fine, it's just that the translator I used (VN Translator Neo) can't be run on Linux. When I run it using wine, the window just goes black
I've tried a few other image-based translators, but they all either don't run or don't detect the game in wine
If anybody has a workaround (besides dual booting windows) I'd be very grateful
I had an argument with a guy who was in a shared friend's discord server about this. He was adamant that, if somebody spent too much money on a game, then it was all their fault. Despite me going over several (clearly manipulative) tactics, all he said was that people who fell for these must be stupid and that they deserved it
Yeah later on he was kicked because of other (Similarly dickish) reasons
My dad was borderline abusive when I was young, but as soon as I hit puberty he stopped being like that and started saying "you can come to me about anything"
Is he a better person now? Yeah, probably. Do I trust him more now? Yeah, probably.
Will I ever go to him for help before exhausting literally every other option? Absolutely not
I honestly agree 100%. I support all my LGBTIQ+ people, but in an ideal world I really shouldn't need to. My support is purely there because there are people who actively want to hurt them, and for no other reason. Part of me worries that some of this support can come across as special treatment
Similarly, I wish people would stop bringing stuff like their sexuality/gender up without prompt, it just comes off as... self-centred, I guess? Bonus points if it's in their twitter handle
That being said, probably my best online friend was a trans girl (mtf). None of our conversations revolved around them being trans, we just played games and laughed together. Good times
