I suspect the UK was only a little behind America's trend towards using cars. But like the other guy says, walking is discouraged by US planning and one hundred year old car-maker propaganda and lack of transport, whereas England is smaller with older roads in many places that resist the American style city planning somewhat with malls, car parks and shit - they're protected.

Everyone is a little bit authoritarian. It's the intent and end result that gives it meaning. You don't see France being criticised these days do you despite their citizenry being vocal about their regime's mismanagement. We've even seemingly had a Western media blackout effectively on it for the past month (they've had riots/protests).

90 percent of war crimes and abuses that I hear about tend to be idf related. Whenever I hear about settlers, it's normally about them stealing a house or occupying.

I don't think India should. But the Finish symbol iirc, was taken up around the same time (early 20th C.) as the Nazis did. It's not a traditional symbol in the sense of cultural heritage.
