  • I think you should ask your sister about this. It's her job to take care of you. Should your mom find out not only will she be mad at you, she'll be mad at your sister. Your mom might even find someone else to take care of you

  • I agree. Based on the comments I've read I think readers are interpreting it wrong maybe because Lemmy users tend to be young and many are students themselves, they see this as directed at them. Your post I assume is directed at the parents and people who someday intend to be parents. I'd also like to add that it's the parents job to teach their children discipline and to discipline their children. Public schools should teach about all religions, parents should be the ones to raise their children under their choice of religion. Parents should teach their children manners and mutual respect before sending them to school

  • To bad there isn't an easier way to filter out posts without having to block entire communities. It seems the election has infiltrated all of them. I can understand how frustrating that must be for nonAmericans. An option to leave out posts that contain keywords would be useful. I use it a lot when doing a Google search.

  • That narcissistic fake patriotism never resonated with me. Don't get me wrong, I love my country and the people in it but I wouldn't tolerate a person that was "me first" because it's obnoxious. I think the reason people latch onto it is to feel better about themselves. It's like racism. People like to imagine others beneath them. It takes no effort at all on their part

  • There may have been an innocent reason for the cashier's behavior that had nothing to do with skin color. I had saw something similar where it may have been interpreted at racism but really the person was incompetent at their job. Either way good on you for caring

  • Not sure why you are asking about instances? There are multiple apps however. Are you using a phone app to access Lemmy? I would look for a community specifically for that app and make make a post about your problem there

  • I had an issue with my inbox showing only the 9 most recent messages and one message about a post getting deleted. Soon after posting about the problem on a community for my Lemmy app of choice (Connect) there was an update and the problem was resolved. You might want to try doing the same

  • About to turn 58 here. Can't complain. I've led a pretty productive life, always stayed busy. No children, always taking on a new hobby. Backpacked frequently, kayaked, fished, always tried to learn something new. Kept a garden, built a garage bigger than my house, put up fences, remodeled my house plus a rental property. Doctor's assistants would tell me I had the heart rate of a professional athlete or something like that. However a few years ago I slowed down dramatically. Gained 30 pounds. Back hurts more often, sore muscles don't heal as fast. Use it or lose it as they say. I still have most of my teeth and all of my thick luscious hair so there's that haha. Yes I do view my life in chapters. I've stayed the same person but have grown less optimistic
