  • And most of the revenue in software comes from outside the Windows Store anyway. As someone else said, there's no stopping a dev from putting in monetisation options in their software directly. I don't get the need for an app store, especially when Linux has had the superior repo and package management system.

  • Well, I just checked, the US military has over one million active personnel, and if 1% of them are dumb, and 1% of that are especially dumb, that's still over a hundred people. So if a few of them play War Thunder... yup.

  • At a tech-based non-profit I worked at, we got a lot of donated stuff, including a number of 34" ultrawides. I ended up liking them more than I expected. I think they'll be fine for gaming, provided your GPU can deal with the resolution.

  • Don't own my current home, so am only looking to do so when I move. Though I'll take your advice on experimenting and learning, so I'll have a better of idea what to expect/to do when that day comes. Think Pi4s aren't too expensive to get and muck around with.

  • As someone in Asia where Amazon is trying to break through the market with stiff ecommerce incumbents, Amazon is great. And more importantly, they know they have no real value selling the generic Chinese stuff that has infiltrated US Amazon, so the amount of that is a lot less. The Chinese stuff on Amazon tends to be from the better companies that have tried to brand themselves and sell decent products (think Anker at the start), otherwise it's usually products from established brands. If I wanted cheap Chinese stuff I have way better and cheaper avenues.

    Competition is good, eh?
