It's here unfortunately, but unlike reddit, opposing opinions aren't modded out.

I don't think there's any advertising budget being spent on these fedi platforms, which makes it impressive they've grown so much from media exposure and word of mouth.

What you're looking for doesn't exist and will probably never exist in our lifetimes. If you want some (USA) sites that aggregate news and provide an interpretation on it; nakedCapitalism, ZeroHedge (you won't like), The Register, Breaking Points, MintPress News, RealClearPolitics.

This isn't happening it's just grandstanding before the summit. Sweden said they'll put in a good word for Turkey to join the EU, Erdogan said he'll put in a good word to Turkish parliament. After the conference someone will do something trivial and they'll fake outrage and go back to Sweden not joining.

I think maybe to point out that SUSE is already the second largest enterprise Linux provider in the market. They already studied RHEL code, this would have been a gentleman's agreement broken not to outright copy each other. RHEL will easily copy SLES improvements and incorporate it into their own code, but SUSE will gain marketshare.

So I agree that's how it works with businesses under Anglo-Saxon style capitalism, but I disagree with that's how it works across the world with large companies. There are large multinational corporations that are ethical. Not as successful in profitability as Microsoft, but they are more successful ethically and better for society.

Yeah I'd do something like this as well after I spent the first few years fulfilling my hedonistic desires (travel, music festivals, language tutors, personal trainers and the fanciest IV supplements etc. etc.) I'd also bankroll a cooperative owned software platform that could compete with a major tech firm. So maybe like create a co-op owned Lemmy instance (or like social.coop) and promote the idea of online public good spaces.
