  • I think he does know how unpopular he is in europe and he's just doing putin's will by intentionally stoking division between the US and its major allies.

  • not really, it makes the store lock everything up behind plexiglass creating more friction for paying customers too.

That's not really harm in the way that hunger or poverty or lobbying against workers protections is harm. That's more like a temporary inconvenience that doesn't stop anyone getting what they need, right?

  • Stealing a physical item from a giant corporate store is also always morally acceptable.

Having power neurologically suppresses empathy. Therefor resources controlled by the powerful will on average be used more harmfully. Taking resources from the powerful reduces total harm done.

You will use a loaf of bread less harmfully than Walmart will use the profit from it.

  • Oh look, another member of putin's US regime going out of his way to sour US relations with a major ally.

  • A responsible editor would've put the Neo Nazi madness part in the headline.

  • Google encourages "protecting your business against costly state regulations"

Just remove the 'y' from 'your' and the sentence goes from lie to truth.

  • This kind of system is how you get the consistency and excellence that microsoft are known for.

  • Unless they're axing the top 5% of the org chart, they're not cutting the lowest performers.

  • She's trolling trump. It's not a serious proposition.

  • Yes, it's real bad.

Our government exists to further enrich the wealthy - at absolutely any cost to people if Rs are in charge, or at almost any cost if it's the Ds turn.

50+ years of the ruling class completely ignoring the most basic pleas for a sane country has completely destroyed the expectation that the government exists to serve their population's interests.

  • Sure, it's definitely making headlines. But it doesn't seem... purposeful I guess? Who is the target audience for this message? How does it possibly further bannon's interests?

I can't imagine any of musk's support being eroded because bannon thinks he's racist, and no one left of mussolini is gonna join team bannon.

  • I would've gone with Fus Rule Dah as the title.

  • The H1B visa blow-up is the plutocrat wing championed by musk getting their way over the more strict white supremacists represented by bannon.

So why did bannon call musk racist - which counts as complement for their base - rather than a race-traitor, which their supporters would agree is bad?

Does he think non-magaites will only now realize musk is massively racist and jump on team bannon? I truly do not understand.

  • I'm saying the need to instantly and constantly denounce tankies is tedious and counterproductive. I'm saying that policing the boundaries of leftism based on dumb shit said online is a reactionary distraction.

  • It's not about defending tankies it's about people who are constantly shifting the focus of conversation to the most mockable section of online lefties.

The ruling class don't waste their time distancing themselves from qanon, they focus on furthering their class interests and emiserating the poor.

Liberals who are constantly calling people tankies are helping the ruling class.

  • What is perhaps most disheartening is that the people creating tools like Astral genuinely seem to believe AI and humans are interchangeable, and that machine will be far better than human can ever be.

    This is absolutely true though.

If your only goal is to market bullshit to strangers, humans are vastly inferior to a program that generates a sentence with three positive adjectives and the product name.

  • Yeah I was gonna say the same thing. I'm appalling at moving from one task to another.

  • This is a really interesting point - that fascist political identities are increasingly built around a willingness to believe the unreal, ignoring left/right beliefs.

But it also massively overstates how much commitment people had to those ideas to begin with. For example:

No “conservative” defender of traditional family values would propose, as ambassador to France, a convicted felon who sent a prostitute to seduce his sister’s husband in order to create a compromising tape

Family values Republicans have always been rape-friendly hypocrites who accept any behavior from their priest-kings.

Giving the powerful free-reign is the conservative value. Everything else is secondary.
