It’s not a double standard, it’s a recognition that a woman is far more likely to end up physically injured than a man.
It’s rather like complaining that certain hiking sites warn against hypothermia when you view them in winter, but not summer. People can still die of hypothermia in summer
My view is that Reddit has personally identifiable data but the data that is being licensed to Google, isn't personally identifiable because the username by itself is insufficient to identify a person, without the additional data that Reddit isn't passing over.
But I agree I may well be surprised by a DPA decision.
True, however I assume that Reddit is supplying Google with just the text. So, yes Reddit is collecting lots of PII, but that’s not what is going to Google to deduce it - unless you dox yourself in the text.
Not trying to be deliberately argumentative, just thinking this though, much as I dislike Reddit, the case feels weak
While it is clearly a shitty move, it's not really clear to me that posts on Reddit consist of personally identifying information as protected by the GDPR.
Because as I type this wind and solar combined are accounting for around 12% of generating capacity and over the course of a year gas sti makes up the biggest slice
I’m hoping the Mini isn’t discontinued, just that they are skipping a few gens. I have a 13 Mini. Given my normal pace of buying, I’ll be in the market for a 20 Mini.
Don;t mention Minecraft. You implemented and adminstered a MYSQL database system which supported N concurrent users and Y transactions per minute with 99.xxx uptime over Z years, you also developed a custom front-end etc etc
I wouldn’t bother with that, I’d instead look at it from the other point of view and think about fitting something like a simple vent gravity flap to your hood outlet, that is closed when your hood is off, and opens when your hood is on. I.e seals the vent to prevent smells.
Sure, I have no problem with taxing higher tax brackets. I was just explaining some of the pressures that have seen childcare costs jump in recent years.
I’m confused as to where that caused unqualified babysitters to no longer be able to work? A government funded Pre-K does not preclude a paid independent Pre-K any more than normal schools preclude private schools.
We have. Hence the current expense of childcare. You could increase taxes to subsidise costs. But there are quite a few other services - health, education, adult and child social services also crying out for those funds.
What would the solution of a left-wing government be?
I was involved in the running of a preschool about 20 years ago, and there was a big shift around that time. Previously, pre-schools had been able to employ (very good and caring but) unqualified staff to run pre-school - quite often mums whose kids had reached 5 and who fancied making some cash and re-enter the workforce in a fairly gentle way.
Around 20 years ago there was a big push to improve the equally of education that kids received in early years. Long standing ‘playgroups’ were ‘strongly encouraged’ to become ‘preschools’. To get a job you had to commit to study for a Level 3 NVQ in early years education.
These changes were made for good reason , but the result was a huge exodus of people who had been very happy looking after kids, reading stories, playing in sandpits who really didn’t want to study for an academy qualification.
This increased professionalisation reduced the size of the workforce and pushed up wages.
