I will say from experience it will get worse before it gets better. But then it will get better.

Backup cameras have better visibility than you do from the drivers seat usually. That said, I would put in an aftermarket one rather than get a factory one.

That does surprise me. Looking at the license for the kernel I don't see any evidence of that. I have had to install non-free drivers that work with my hardware like my NIC but I didn't accept agreements for the processor or memory or rtc etc.

I was recently at a maker space that had thousands of unused ICs and thought this would be an excellent project. I couldn't really interest anyone else. They wanted to just keep hording the things away.

Which chip exactly? Show me the datasheet. What SOC do they use for the smarts? Got a data sheet for it?

How would you think you would physically attach the display to the device "running the dumb display driver software"

Is a copy of Ben Eaters or did you do your own thing?

I wonder if they require you to reconnect on a regular basis. Would this strategy have gotten you past the last Roku agreement issue?
