  • The thing that makes no sense to me is… who is actually making those calculations?

It sure as hell isn’t trump, I doubt his ability to understand what a trade deficit is.

Is he even capable of describing his goal to someone in a useful way such that they could come up with the calculations?

  • Yes, kind of.

Someone might correct me if I’m wrong but it’s that, plus extra tooling to redirect the stuff that needs to be writable, plus more extra tooling to allow you to temporarily unlock the read-only parts in order to do system updates, plus a system updater that puts the whole system more-or-less under version control.

  • I felt a compatibility module wouldn't offer nearly as good performance/efficiency as a game designed to run on Linux/ext4 - but are you saying that playing via Proton is fine?

Can confirm, it’s fine. There’s some variability of course but taken as a whole the environment is comparable in terms of performance. As long as you’re not playing AAA competitive games that have anti-cheat you are going to be fine with few exceptions. And there are plenty of examples where the proton experience works better than the native.

Check protondb to get a realistic idea of how well games will work.

  • It’s dropping as in “experiencing a fall in numbers” (back to normal levels) not as in “removing from support” nor as in “delivered to the world”

They may have removed it from the reporting or corrected for some previous change in reporting methodology.

  • “Not interested in dealing with trump’s fuckery” as well as “they handed us the political prisoners who fled our country” and possibly not wanting the political fallout from making deals with a fascist country.

That said it would be amazing if El Salvador took the opportunity to show the world by treating these prisoners better than the US did

  • I don’t believe in free will, so when I see someone act this way, I don’t even really blame them. I don’t see it as a conscious decision, but more as a behavior they’re helplessly repeating. And people rarely change that kind of behavior unless the motivation comes from within - not from outside pressure.

That’s an interesting angle. But without free will, wouldn’t it be that they could never change the behavior unless it was already preordained?
