I had a journey
We have a sane person in this comment section! I love it. Can you please run for some public office?
Thanks for your thoughts. I simply disagree. Being autistic means something else for every person who fits the description and for me it is this.
Attacking my personal understanding and using the wording you do is overreaching and mean. Instead of telling me to not say something, you could ask what I meant or how I arrived to this conclusion. But you chose not to.
If you are either a psychologist or an autistic person, you may speak about your own ideas. If not, I ask you to leave autistic people talking about the experience of being autistic be.
We absolutely can. Break up every company at 999 mil and we‘re golden. It’s the lack of competition that makes enshittification possible.
If you start reading about autistic people, you will most likely hear a couple things very often. It’s not a law as every autistic person is different but three common things I hear and read often are:
- thruthful to a the point of rudeness
- often use logic where most people would use gut feeling or intuition
- have a particular knack for justice, often in a binary sense
Obviously, there are a lot of other things that can identify or sum up autistic people but these fit the situation I‘m talking about. One more may be useful: we don’t suffer from the so called „framing effect“ where neurotypical people would make two different decisions on the same question according to the situation they’re in. Most autistic dont do this. We look at a problem without considering our current situation. Some say thats why we are less likely to become corrupt. We couldn’t care less if our friend really likes to work in our company. If someone else is better suited, he gets hired, for example.
The problem is: intelligence doesn’t help either. Sure, it lets you grasp problems pretty fast, makes you a good learner but do you have any ideas how many psychopaths are actually gifted?
As an autistic individual, I‘d say the autistic way would be pretty awesome as a government. You have to tell the truth and are not allowed to care how anyone receives it (what could go wrong, right?). I‘m obviously joking, mostly. I‘d explore it though.
I think the current way is the worst (turning more populist every day) because the majority of people is rather unintelligent and does not have a logical concept on life (from an autistic standpoint).
I‘m a little surprised by the sheer size of your comment. Thank you for your effort.
I agree that there are many good ideas and nuances to use in this situation. I really like how much thought you‘ve put into it.
Where I don’t agree is the 100 yrs ago theme. You‘re taking what I said and interpret it in a way I didn’t intend. I meant we as people should become less productive and neither we as a population nor living like 100 yrs ago.
Example: being less productive as in not being on the phone with a customer while driving to work alone in your own car so as to be there early, able to pick something up your boss demands and making sales for the company but instead waiting for the bus, not being on the phone and not slaving for your boss while on unpaid time.
Does this example make more sense?
And being less productive does not mean we have no modern medicine, cutting edge computers but less luxury. The vast majority of our surplus productivity goes into the 1% and luxury items. Yachts, Jewelry, etc. part of this surplus happens because both people in a 2 person household work and still get along the same or less than 1 earner households did back in the 70s.
I agree 100%. In business, you have to prove your innocence when subject to a lawsuit. Same goes for lying imo.
If you ran out of money to keep your promise, you will be able to prove that. Same goes for having to compromise to get some other benefit.
The initial point I was trying to make is that we are so accustomed (imo) to being lied to that we don’t make people prove that they didn’t plan that from the beginning.
For example: where I live, it is common practice to make food pictures for ads or menus that a) dont resemble the final product and b) are made with completely different, often inedible substances to look like a better version of the real deal. Something that an hones picture can never achieve. This needs to be illegal. This is not someone running out of money or compromising but premeditated lying.

I have seen that recently. Thank you very much.
Okay. I agree that i was a bit far with my phrasing. I should have said „in city centers“. I live in a city and I don’t see a reason to use or even own a car 9/10 times (if the transit is good, which it isnt in my city).
But I‘d like to address something else here. If we had no cars, we would take a lot longer to do things and become much less productive and less stressed, which is becoming a big problem rn.
So, maybe a conpromise between both our ideas would be good. I‘d like to achive throwing a wrench in our capitalist steam machine turning our planet to a pile of shit.
I agree. But I also believe that we give up to easily because „thats the way it is“. My point is we should push more in the other direction and try to go binary (right/wrong) as much as possible. If something is morally wrong, it needs to be put into law asap nearly no matter the cost.

Yes, of course. Still, nobody plays all of them and the number is growing massively thanks to steam deck. So people should consider it and make an informed decision.

Tell me about it… I researched a ton but the problems with nvidia and the emergence of better and better amd drivers (and I think now intel as well) for linux was pretty hard to get so I ended up with an nvidia gpu and I hate it a little bit. I mean, it works but I assume it would have been a lot easier. Lets hope nvidia gets the hint at some point (like microsoft did by making shit more repairable).
Anyway, good for you. I just switched on my main and so far its pretty good, games wise. Tbf I run everything on steam rn. I haven’t tried the other stuff (blizzard stuff, far cry, etc). I am not opposed to „alternative means“ but I happen to be happy with the reduced price games on steam etc.
I would absolutely try and dual boot for a bit at least. :)
Ban all cars. bus, tram and trains need to be so great that you can actually stand driving in them. But they’re only important for winter or when it rains mostly anyway. Otherwise you take the bike, ebike or scooter. We would need to find a solution for carrying lots of groceries obviously. Remember when people hat little trollies behind them when grocery shopping?
(Obviously in summer a disabled person would still ride them. Not trying to be ableist here)

Please consider trying linux. Although I‘m having my fair share of issues using ubuntu desktop atm, I have a complex setup and am insanely thickheaded and entitled because I‘m a linux server admin. So, a windows user who switches to a clean linux mint install should be ok.
Fun fact: a ton of games work wonderfully on linux now.
I sadly don’t know a lot about router setups but there is an !ubuntuserver@discuss.tchncs.de community you could crosspost to if you want to. :) good luck.
I really enjoyed reading your explanation. Thank you very much.
This calms me down quite a bit. :) have a good day.
Same. I also put in hundreds of hours in the beginning and barely touched it since then. I really like the game. It’s awesome for how cheap it was.
Everyone will call me naive again but how about we actually hold people to their word?
Why is it not illegal for say politicians to say one thing and do the opposite?
If a game studio says „we‘re gonna make the greatest game ever!“ I would like to make them prove it or refund everyone.
You can’t say „contains no nuts“ and put nuts in it, why is there a caveat for other stuff? Just keep to the truth. Why is it so hard to normalize advertising without tons of hyperbole?
(I‘m autistic and I see telling the truth as a good thing. I don’t understand why someone would like to be lied to. Omit something to not hurt them, ok. But outright lying is wrong on a binary level imo. As in not ok ever.)
Reading this really troubles me. I don’t like the implication that using lemmy is pushing authoritarian ideology.
If I was born 50 yrs earlier I would literally have been put in the gas chamber. I tick several qualifiers for it.
Thank you for using less violent speech this time. I still don’t understand why you feel like you need to correct my opinion here. Again, if you‘re on the spectrum or an expert, feel free to identify yourself. Otherwise I will stay by my opinion. Have a good one.
