Proven effective against cold-war era planes maybe. There have been a few improvements in the past 50 years. Those same Russian air-defence systems proved themselves effectively useless against the F-117 in the Balkans, and the F-35 is miles above the F-117.

Vietnam and Korea proved that 1950s and 1970s era technology was not up to the task, not that it was not possible. The main issue with both was the lack of accuracy.

NATO doctrine relies heavily on airpower for any large military conflict. Dissolve the Israeli state, and unless you replace with something similar, and those factors will no longer stand. Compromise the territorial integry of the new state to any serious degree, including ceding the west bank to a Palestinian state, and Israel becomes militarily indefensible.

The destruction of the state of Israel to be replaced by a fair socialist democratic order would obviously be a positive outcome, but there is no entity in Israeli, Palestine or the entire region with even the remotest hope of accomplishing that.

The Israeli government is largely a house of neoliberals and fascists, and the Palestinian governments are various flavours of theocracies and ethnocracies, some with a socialist history but they are certainly not socialist now.

Taiwan has been independent from the mainland since 1949. That's 74 years. Were people in the US in 1850 ethnically British? Largely yes, and that's with the US recieving massive migration from other countries, which Taiwan has not had.

The Taiwanese people speak Chinese, practice Chinese cultural traditions, call themselves the Republic of China many even to this day support reconciliation.
