  • The logic is sound when viewed in isolation - in theory parents care more about the future as their kids live in it, I can see that. And that's about where the logic ends.

    • what about those who chose not to have kids to provide for a better future?
    • those who have kids to get more votes, undermining the whole premise
    • those who are actually making a better future as non parents.
    • the basics founding block of democracy of one person, one vote?
  • Hello not-a-parent.

Parent of 3, own two businesses, coach kids sport, second job and university student studying global defense challenges and organizational sustainability.

How are you keeping yourself informed with all that not-a-parent energy?

  • Best thing about Biden as President was we heard nothing - he just presidentted. We heard more crap about trumps fuck up than the current sitting president - from daily things to just.... nothing.

  • The United States would be throwing its own strategic interests under a bus.

I know this may come as a shock, but the US government is well aware what is happening over there, and knows considerably more that the average person. They aren't doing nothing because of lack of evidence, or death, or allegations (both proven and otherwise). They do nothing because its in their interests to do so.

I use the example of "no blood for oil". They only said that because they still had oil - start losing access to key parts of your strategic access and absolutely we would be crying for war.

  • I have thought the same thing before - used to live in a house where the windows didn't even close, calculate food budget to the cent, could feed myself dinner for 35c and would spend two hours driving for an extra hour of pay. Not there any more fortunately.

I think saying "we shouldn't complain as others are worse" is putting thinking in the wrong direction. If you can't enjoy your life with enough to get by then that also needs to be fixed - don't short your own efforts and struggle.
