Afaik, albeit this system is only like 6 hours old, just an updating everything should be enough. Again though, I've still never ran Gentoo semi-permanently nor on bare metal so I can't really help you out there.
No it wasn't bad actually with the hand-holding a long the way, I mainly followed the handbook but if I didn't understand anything then I went back to the MO video to see what he did. Compiling from source is definitely what took the longest but that's to be expected with Gentoo. The overall install process felt like a bit more involved Arch install.
I use Arch on my host machine, the stuff I learnt when doing Gentoo today was wayyy deeper than Arch has ever gotten near. I agree that Arch teaches what most people should know, but Gentoo fully teaches what most people should have at least a small understanding of.
It's really a non-issue, on modern CPUs (Multiple cores, 3+GHz) with modern amounts of memory (8 - 32+GB) it's barely noticeable. I've never heard of Systemd causing the computer to stall and most users will never even be aware of the relatively high memory consumption.
The biggest flaw with Systemd is violating the Unix philosphy, Systemd does multiple things for example. The only people who are going to actively hunt down things like Artix probably have used / use Gentoo or Arch (I use Arch btw) and running a very minimal install. I'd be flabbergasted if any mainstream distro like Ubuntu replaces Systemd (Knowing Cannonical it'll be a Snap-packaged init system lol).
The memory usage is as Systemd has lots of daemons and services running the background. The CPU usage uplift is mainly during boot, as Systemd is sorting itself out.
Artix is a fork of Arch that uses different initialization systems such as Open-RC instead of SystemD.
Artix exists because people believe that SystemD is bloated, which it arguably is. And that SystemD doesn't respect the Unix philosophy.
Same boat here, no one else in my school cares about their privacy. They take everything for granted. They only see the surface level of the world around them.
I would never daily drive an iPhone. Or use any of the social medias they use. Or vape, vaping is a big one here in the UK.
I do think you're a bit too hostile there though, it's important we voice our concerns and not just lose all hope for them, even if they are hostile towards us.
Yes but relative to you the door is moving away and you're stationary. In this example of the portal coming towards you, therefore upon paasing through the other side of the frame, the other portal, is moving away from you.
In this diagram, it's assumed that the person is the frame of reference, therefore I believe A to be the correct outcome.
Think of a portal as a door, if someone brings an open door up to you (idk maybe it's on wheels or something) and you go through it, you don't suddenly fly through the frame.
