  • Yer sucha sheep!

    j/k. Welcome home lad.

  • Oh, I see. Thanks for clarifying. And I've got to admit that "dockerizing" everything is a fun process indeed. :P

  • Now you've confused me a little bit -- is there any difference between a scratch and a distroless image? Aren't they (technically) the same thing?

That aside, thank you for your input and compliment.

  • So basically

"Windows for freeloaders: "You are the product(tm)" edition."

  • Use PS1="▌\t▐\n\w→" to display your local time each time you press enter. And make aliases of lengthy commands such as alias internettest="curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sivel/speedtest-cli/master/speedtest.py | python -" (You need to install python to run this.)

  • Mint if you are a newbie.

ZorinOS if you have no idea what you are doing.

    Gentoo if you hate yourself.

Debian for that false sense of security (Its motto is "outdated packages = more security").

  • I might get some folk throwing rocks at me for saying this, but Gentoo. It's literally "the placebo distro". As in, "compile pretty much every command your distro has in exchange for a measly half a second faster boot times!". Even if you'd say, "Oh, but it does make a difference when running it on my potato!"... just... buy something better already.

  • "Hello sir, this is Wendy's."

"..oh hang on a sec, gotta check my dotfiles."

  • "The real winner is the one who loses the most" indeed.

  • copying in key elements from the host machine

Not from the host machine, but from the official nginx image ( nginx:mainline-alpine3.18-slim ). And what it (basically) does is separate the essential commands/files inside a scratch image and gives every command a custom username tag.

    Still, I appreciate your input.

  • If the end-goal is not learning but having an as secure container as possible

It's actually both -- there is always something new to learn, after all. And thanks for these tips, I'll read em right now.

  • Eh...just trying to learn some new things regarding common "dockerization"-related things, and improving its security.

  • LXQt always brings me back... when I tried to make my Linux/GNU install an Windows 95 lookalike. *sigh...good times.

  • Filter windows...

    YES

  • DE? What is that?

    Me, an "minimal install" user

Jokes aside, I don't fiddle with shortcuts unless its something that involves other command(s) instead of the one(s) I currently have on my /usr/local/bin directory.

  • In 204x will be like

    visit site

Popup: "We'd like to introduce you to our own Terms of Service."

Popup: "And also these random terms regarding global rights

    Popup: "And minorities"

Popup: "And countries who need YOUR help!"

Popup: "No really, we really mean it."

    Popup: "And also regarding telemetry"

Popup: "And on how we will fetch private/sensitive about you without your concern."

Popup: "Also some things we've got from third parties about you"

Popup: "Oh yeah! Would you like to buy these random stuff we think its fitting for YOU?"

    etc.

  • Indeed! My grandmother loves it. :^)
