Eh, living with themselves was punishment enough. I'm just sorry for the few level-headed outcasts who had to live thinking they were weird or pretending to fit in so they wouldn't be persecuted.
The first thing that comes to my mind is that while in demographic decline like most parts of the developed world, they chose not to use immigration, but automation as a production base instead, which saves them a lot of trouble in social integration, but it turns out, robots don't have kids or go to University.
Update: Intel’s Downfall was closely followed by AMD’s Inception, a newfound security hole affecting all Ryzen and Epyc processors. The first independent testing of the mitigation microcode patches show that it can drastically lower performance in certain workloads. We’ve included details throughout this post.
Yes, that same book also talked about how success and pay is only 5% performance and the rest is self promotion and sucking up...that helps put a lot of life in perspective
I think you can do that with an adblocker like ublock: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/1887301 this was a suggestion for a beehaw user, but you can replace it with your instance.
I was reading a book on this recently and it had a good reason for why some departments get all the money and some don't. Imagine you have a market that is saturated with products, you decided you can and want to buy, but can't choose. In that case, sales/marketing is what brings in the most money, so they have the most power and get paid accordingly.
Now imagine the post-war booming economy where every car made gets sold and cars are fairly established as a product. Sales and engineering performance are not that important, but financial departments grew immensely, because the competition was on optimizing, cost-cutting, investment and consolidation.
Last example: new industry, still figuring out the best methods, newest products and killer apps: engineering has the most power.
Given the economy we're in right now, where money is tight, new products outside the AI hype/boom are going to be companies fighting to sell you their product, so marketing is winning right now, but it may change.
Alright, polandball time: I'll ask around the EU++ who wants to play Arkansas in the school play...if nobody takes it, I'm giving it to Hungary :D because they're being a dick lately. So, which state do you want? I hear Idaho's nice :) Germany already took California, France took New York, Italy took Texas, Spain took Florida, the Netherlands took Pennsylvania, Poland took Illinois, Romania got Georgia, Sweden asked for Michigan and Austria asked for Massachusets, Finland got offered Indiana, but picked Arizona, lol etc etc...do you want Wisconsin? Also: UK guest starring as Canada and Turkey as Mexico lol
I know, but when you said religious conservative, I immediately assumed American and economically conservative, but there are plenty of Christian social democrats in Europe.
I think I may have misunderstood your question: which ideology did you expect religious conservatives to support? And, where/when? Maybe they could be socialists, because the new testament encourages generosity. Or maybe they could be really conservative and rabidly monarchist, imperialist like in the past. Maybe it does not matter and they just "support" what there is in their country at the time or it doesn't matter where religion is separate from the state.
I got used to it, you just need to look at the US as a union of states like Europe, in which case Arkansas is about equivalent to Lithuania in population (although if you correct for the more states and less pop of the US you get Bulgaria or Finland if you use a ranked method) . The same could be done for China, India and Brazil.
