  • Are you saying that Sanders, Jewish Voice for Peace, or Breaking the Silence are actually, truly racist? You talk about not distancing themselves from actual anti-Semites, but why? There's no evidence I know of (certainly none that they publicly publish) that any of those people/organizations are what you call "indeed wrong kind of Jews", hating other people because they are Jews, or wanting Israel destroyed. If you can provide proof of your argument about them standing "right beside" actual anti-Semites please do so.

This isn't a team sport. Both sides in that conflict are wrong

I don't support Hamas and it makes no sense/is unfair that you'd jump to the conclusion that I do. You shouldn't require an explicit disclaimer attached to every criticism of pro-Israeli propaganda or policy, and if it's not there then assume support of Hamas or other racists. You talk about nuance but make no attempt to check for it before attacking. If you're worried you could ask for people's beliefs and then form an opinion based on actually expressed support/racism, but you didn't and I provided nothing to that effect. Arguing as if I had chosen Hamas or anti-Semites as my "team" because I criticize Israel is putting completely unfounded words in my mouth.

There definitely is a side being unjustly punished that isn't "wrong" - the Palestinian civilians who are getting killed, abused, and starved at a pace greater than any other major 21st century conflict. Even if you could magically prove all of those killed/injured/suffering (most by far women/children/noncombatant men) support Hamas, collective punishment of civilians is a war crime for good reason. The best example is the 14,500 children killed, tens of thousands wounded, and many orphaned or otherwise traumatized who are incapable of being "the wrong side" by virtue of the fact that they are kids.

What valid opinions am I unfairly discrediting, and about what topics? You put that out there as if it's obvious truth but did not clarify at all. I don't know how my post could be seen to have addressed any such opinions in the first place, much less done so unfairly. My argument is black-and-white because it talks about Netanyahu's assertions about criticism as racist, which are pure crap. That's what this whole thread and my response are about.

  • In before Bernie Sanders joins dissenting voices like Jewish Voice for Peace and Breaking the Silence as condemned by Israel, the USA, Germany, the UK etc. for being the wrong kind of Jew. Some version of misled, self-hating, extremist, unpatriotic etc. Destroying the reputation of dissenters, especially Jewish dissenters, is the only way to keep Netanyahu's illogical lie that "criticism of his brand of Zionism and resultant Israeli policy is racist against all Jews" alive. The governments involved in Israel's apartheid and war cimes MUST force that idea on us all - there is no defending the ethics of the situation so their last resort is to repeatedly defame and silence those who protest.

  • "Rule #11: No more ranking animals by probable elasticity of orifices." Stop raining on my parade Discord. It's an engaging topic and all rankings are theoretical and cruelty-free.

  • "I'd love for you to meet our interior designer, Mr. M. C. Escher":

  • Yin and Yang. Life and Death. Joy and Sorrow. "Congratulations, you made it to the weekend" and:

  • First Republican representatives Ken Buck and Mike Gallagher resigned in protest of what's happening in their party and left early to make it hurt. Earlier I read about a Murdoch-owned, Trump "favorite" newspaper mocking MTG with the headline "Nyet, Moscow Marjorie". Now there's this story. Maybe, just maybe, we're starting to hit the limits of what GOP extremist politicians can do openly without self-sabotaging consequences. The timing of this infighting erupting into public view is just icing on the cake.

  • Kids can't protect themselves. They don't have the ability to make their own informed choices. Please don't destroy the evidence-based protections we have that keep them from dying, being crippled, having to get a machine to breathe for them permanently, etc. We have decades of data and it's overwhelmingly clear: vaccines save lives and do so incredibly safely.

Every time a child is seriously harmed because a parent ignored vaccine guidelines the parents should be charged with criminal neglect. It's no different than if you fed your children say, mercury, and then claimed you believed it was helpful because of Facebook gurus or similarly unaccredited sources. In both situations a child is being permanently harmed due to choices they have no ability to understand, resist or protest and thus we need laws to protect them.

Also, not only are the anti-vaxxer parents endangering their own children, but also everyone else's by increasing risk of their kids becoming vectors/reservoirs for infection and potential mutation into new strains that could evade current vaccines. "High mutation rate is an important characteristic of viruses that can enable them to evade immune responses and propagate infection." So not only are anti-vaxxers making choices for their own kids, but potentially also others' kids. It's not guaranteed but it's rolling some high-stakes dice.

  • Thank you for responding to my question! I edited my original comment because I took a quick look into it and came to the same conclusion you did. I'm of the opinion that things like sex work can be done properly, and if they aren't done properly they will be done improperly. Sort of a "Prohibition" vs. "regulated alcohol sales" scenario. People like other sexy people, and some adults legitimately consent to be those other sexy people. However, in order for it to be ethical there have to be robust protections.

It doesn't take much research to find out these maid cafes do not always feature said protections. So I edited my original comment because I found the answer and then you kindly backed it up very shortly afterwards.

  • I'm reading the DNA results which say...

  • It's not just Japanese Maid Cafes that are a little crazy that way. Now I'm guessing Hooters doesn't do much business in China either.

  • I'm not sure that specifically was drawn, so I took some artistic liberties (aka googled "sleeping orange").

  • It isn't too much to ask. According to Dr. K of HealthyGamerGG (Harvard Psychiatrist/Instructor), research shows that the release of non-consensual porn makes the unwilling subjects suicidal over half the time. Non-consensual porn = deepfakes, revenge porn, etc. It's seriously harmful, and there are other effects like depression, shame, PTSD, anxiety, and so on. There is functionally unlimited porn out there that is made with consent, and if someone doesn't want to be publicly sexually explicit then that's their choice.

I'm not against AI porn in general (I consider it the modern version of dirty drawings/cartoons), but when it comes to specific likenesses as with deepfakes then there's clear proof of harm and that's enough for me to oppose it. I don't believe there's some inherent right to see specific people naked against their will.

  • Any peace deal that doesn't involve Russia leaving behind all Ukrainian territory rewards Putin's Russia for their invasion. IMO Russia should have to at least pull back to the borders that existed before the 2022 offensive. Of course I'm not in a position to make decisions if it's a bitter pill that must be taken, but real gains for Russia will show that aggression worked.

Also, peace doesn't need a specific broker. If an international effort including China, or even led by them, can broker a good deal then so be it. Maybe China's relationship with Russia makes talks more likely to be productive. I can't think of an explanation as to why a US-led deal with the same terms would be inherently better (that isn't just nationalism/pride and much less important than halting war).
