  • I swear I've seen this exact comment in a similar thread some time ago. I think your take is flawed or even disingenuous. We all know that trans issues are manufactured outrage. Which is what nutomic appears to be saying.

This whole controversy with him reeks of comment baiting and using an off the cuff comment in order to undermine the Lemmy project. It's no coincidence that this thread came up right after the devs say that they are running out of funding.

Why is it suddenly time to defederate with ml when this happened months ago.? The only real negative thing he said is about trans sports, but honestly I don't think the lgbtq community gave a hot damn about highschool and college women's sports before.

  • I have too many family members who are Leo, plus other reasons why they shouldn't do that. Plus it would be homeland security or FBI for various other reasons. But it could be ICE because I know a lot of immigrants. It would be a clusterfuck.

  • I still think about this scene a lot because I've been there sheen relatively normal people casually talked about going to cities and shooting "democrats“ while also talking about the guns they were currently buying. I should have turned them in.

  • A lot of people use shopify and then have the orders fulfilled by one of the many print on demand services. So once the store is set up then it's basically on auto pilot as far as I can tell.

I've never done it before, but they make it pretty easy to set up a store and collect payments.

Shopify is a Canadian company so that isn't an issue in the current political climate, but I'm unaware of any other issues people might have with the company.

  • I had made the suggestion to them that they could start offering some kind of managed hosting services for people running instances. I have a couple of instances running with a hosting provider. If I could have them running with the support of the devs then that would be awesome.

  • In my state it's not stalking if you don't make any threats. You don't have an expectation of privacy in public. That's the argument they use with license plate cameras and other warrantless survelance, tracking, facial recognition, etc.

  • I can use an sdr to read your water meter and determine how often you go to the bathroom, shower, wash your clothes, and when you're home and it's not illegal. I'm allowed to follow you around and take your picture as much as I want to. I can print off as many pictures of you as I want in public and wallpaper my whole house with your face and body, there's nothing you can do about it. I can do an 8 hour video essay about you and share this with everyone. As long as the info is publicly available (or not in most U.S. states), it's legal.

  • That's strange that they allow the sender to do that. The way it was when it first started is that everyone got the 1099-k over the $600, even for personal business.

I sell a lot on ebay so I have to deal with this, but I usually have expenses like shipping to deduct. It's a pain because I also sell personal items, so as long as I can show my basis in the item I can deduct it. This becomes difficult in certain situations. I bought factory alloy wheels for my car and sold the steel wheels for around $50/ea plus shipping. What is my basis in the wheels? It's part of my car technically, but what percentage of the purchase price of the vehicle was wheels? I just didn't bother trying to deduct that.
