  • Lots of unpopular opinions in here and I'm willing to add mine to the mix.

I'm well aware of ad blockers, and use them occasionally. I also block trackers like pendo through DNS entries on my router. I pay for YouTube.

But I also allow ads and welcome them.

I remember when you couldn't get email unless you were in a school or paid for it. I remember a time when the fastest Internet loaded images line by line. I remember an Internet without videos, or even GIFs.

Services cost money. You use the service, you are the commodity. I've accepted this. A few ads don't kill me and it helps to support providers. I'm quite numb to ads.

Yes they are tracking me and selling my data, but what does that actually mean? I get more targeted offers. More targeted ads.

We've become scared of being tracked by corporations, but for what reason?

Providing content costs money. The days of the free Internet will quickly come to an end without advertisers.

  • Can we get an uno reverse on this?

Any federally elected politician who does not school acknowledge the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and that that crisis is the direct result of actions taken by the Israeli government should also serve 6mo service in Gaza.

    E: a word

  • SEC is only responsible for regulating, they have no ability to try/convict/imprison. I believe they did refer this case to the FBI.

Just to point this out, I think prison sounds like a fine idea for this guy, but he's been dealt a serious blow. Besides being fined 16M (2M personally), he's likely lost his ability to earn as an accountant. I doubt he could get a job as a cashier at this point.

  • I think this is also an archaic model from before smart phones and the early days of smart phones. In the early days of apps, most attempted to limit data usage because most network providers charged a premium for data and the networks were much slower and smaller.

While you could tether in these early days, even before smart phones, the computer was capable of much higher data usage than the phone. These limits were put in place to protect a network that wasn't really built for this level of load.

Old rules with good purpose turned into a way to charge more money.

  • Every time the ATT sales people bug me at stores I tell them what I'm paying and that I get unlimited hotspot and they usually say "oh, you're good."

Add to this that Fi actually allows you to add data only SIMS at no cost.

  • Fine these mother fuckers! We need legislation to limit income disparity between insiders and grunts. It needs to work on total compensation and include contract workers. Any insider making more than 15x the average or median income should have to pay 50% of the difference and that fine should increase every year it's not corrected.

  • I really wish media outlets would stop framing this as "Trump harmed by person who doesn't like Trump"

    The title should be

"Trump's attempt to subvert the law thwarted by the savvy prosecution team"

His plan is to avoid securing one or more bonds with his assets and instead attempt to fool the court into believing that it's absolutely impossible. The plan is not genuine and is really just another attempt at fraud.

  • I think the useful idiot has been viewed as no longer useful.

Putin says Biden is predictable. Drumph is now over leveraged, probably always has been, but I'm not sure anyone realized just how much. You can't use kompromat against him effectively if everyone has it.

I'm also sceptical of Alexander Smirnov and how he was burned. It just crumbled too smoothly, as if the operation was over, not that he was caught.

  • I checked to see if this was on my pixel 6 pro. It wasn't but I found this.

Not something I installed and not something I would allow.

The uninstall did not appear to work UNTIL I disabled the app and cleared the data.
