  • As someone not into the hobby (although I have a cookie cutter mechanical keyboard), what is the point of having that few keys? Portability? Otherwise i find it more cumbersome than efficient having to constantly use modifiers to access the full range of keys I might want to press.

Edit: this was meant as a reply to the guy with a 60% keyboard

  • I don’t think I have ever given a shit about the bubble color, and I’m an iPhone user for well over a decade now. I don’t know anyone who actually uses messages for their main communication, they use other apps for that.

  • If the tech were to be made widely available I would welcome it very much. There are plenty of spaces where people really shouldn’t be filming, mainly the gym, that would benefit from a passive and mandatory camera deactivation for all smartphones.

On the other hand, giving this to the government or law enforcement obviously is a massive breach of civil rights and the citizen's ability to exercise control over their public servants.

  • Great release, finally I can curate my feed better. One thing is missing I didn’t realize before though, could you add the option to also filter whole instances?

This isn’t strictly necessary but for example the lemy.nl communities are extremely active to the point I see half a dozen posts from them in direct succession on the all feed and that’s good for them, but i don’t speak dutch. I have no use for articles and news discussion in dutch. And since it is a bit tedious filtering every community manually, being able to filter out whole instances would be very useful.

  • So, according to his wiki link he seems to have a very reasonable position for someone who has that particular religious belief. Supposedly he has explicitly expressed his support for the right have abortions when the American Supreme Court repelled the law that guaranteed it. He also supposedly is a democrat voter, in support of the separation of church and state, and ashamed of current republicans.

For someone who is against abortion he seems to hold the most reasonable and supportive position possible.

  • You just described the demographics of the average early tech adopter.

Old enough to understand the importance of privacy and to care about the federation aspect of the fediverse, tech savvy and nerdy enough to not be discouraged by an unfamiliar interface and still developing environment. And apparently we like Linux too.
