  • Honestly, this is a little concerning. Poland itself isn’t in any real danger, but Wagner has no patience or discipline. They might poke a bear if they see potential profit (Conoco Refinery), or if they imagine Poland has slighted them.

  • I think you’re onto something. But the US isn’t the right market for WeChat because there’s too much competition, we’re always late to adopt new tech (especially payment methods), and we don’t trust social media even as we consume it. I sure af wouldn’t sign up for an everything app.

  • She’s suing for copyright infringement, basically, not the LLM emulating her style.

    The LLMs read books from her and many, many others that they didn’t buy, because unauthorized copies had been uploaded to the web (happens to every popular book).

    Honestly, I don’t know if she has a case. Going after the people who illegally uploaded her book would be the proper route, but that’s always nearly impossible.

    Long and short, LLMs benefited from illegal copies.

  • Yeah, in the West, we are suffering from unregulated capitalism and it’s hurting us badly. But that certainly doesn’t mean communism is good, especially authoritarian communism (which is exactly what we have historical examples of). We need social safety nets, better taxation, and fucking choices in the west.
