  • have already starved to death because there's no food available within 5 standard miles, they tripped over a curb and broke their leg, and some shady looking feller keeps hanging around in the creek back yonder that looks at them shifty...

  • I always recommend reading the whole thing, because the work is incredible, but as to the 'oopsie' of manslaughter, it's nice to read some of the theory behind it: https://lawcomic.net/guide/?p=185 (edit, oh god, the april fools thing is horrible. I'm sorry in advance)

As for the parachute thing, most of the time the cause of the accident is the skydiver. https://www.uspa.org/searchincidentreports It also makes a lot of sense to look closely at the manufacturers/inspectors/dropzone operators, because otherwise a lot of shit could get swept under the rug as just random occurrences. As in engineering, we must examine where we can fix what went wrong. I can understand the frustration that the process often is entangled with the courtroom, but if a jury, presented with evidence and arguments by both sides, comes to the conclusion that one party was injured due to another's actions and restitution is deserved, who the fuck are we to gainsay that? I'm aware of many times where the "random unavoidable small chance of statistical failure rates" is settled on as the cause and there isn't a settlement paid. Even talking about removing someone's ability to seek remedy from the courts is an action that should be looked at with no small amount of suspicion.

  • The manufacturers actually quite like offloading the challenge of selling cars to the dealerships. They force the dealerships to buy their inventory on loan, and reap quite the profit. I remember that one manufacturer made a full third of its profit solely by the interest paid by dealerships who have vehicles sitting on the showroom floor.

  • Fair enough, but I think as long as you don't let it extend to where players are trying to do things that they shouldn't with their actions, encouraging them to describe their character flicking a sword around the opponent's shield strap is encouraging them to engage with the scenario in a different way than just seeing stat numbers listed on a square.

I also think that the reactions in combat are exactly what you should be after. I love seeing a player take the 'nontactical' move that isn't what they designed it to do (so a rushing charger kill everything in one hit character taking a shielding action).

  • I like the concept of RP, but man do some groups struggle to pull it off. I also (don't lynch me) think that combat should be an RP experience. That could be my love for certain systems where you get bonuses for good, accurate descriptions and not simply, "I roll. I hit. I do X damage."

  • Comes pre-labeled for your convenience!

Compared to his other tattoos, this one doesn't even seem offensive or tied to any specific hate group. It would be similar to me getting an 'excommunicato' tattoo, viewed from my family who are all catholic and hate my atheism, or simply 'blasphemer' for the protestant second cousins. Should we get upset at all those who have demon/devil tattoos because they're symbols of christianphobia?

  • He's pretty much the perfect example of pulling the ladder up behind you with his policies about disabled people. You could throw in there the eventual instance of the inner circle turning against him, but that hasn't happened quite yet.

  • What is perhaps more heinous is that the little fucker is able to milk his notoriety

I think we can rest easy on that. Every time you hear about him now it's just a laughingstock. I don't think he's in a great financial situation, and has completely failed at public appearances so he isn't going to get political power. He's more of a painted pony that the repubs can trot out every now and then.

  • Tejas is from the native americans, if I remember rightly. Something to do with 'friend' or 'friendship' I think. Then it gets filtered through the spanish language before coming to english as texas.

  • Oh my god, the explosions with the black ones are horrible, because you don't realize until you start to grip and the ink just coats your fingers. I love them, but the horror will live forever in my mind.
