  • Being able to parse a specific ruleset, or doing a specific kind of math fast

Oh man, I would love competitive tabletop games, where the goal isn't to min/max your build, but to min/max your build after being given a brand new system and 45 minutes to read the rules.

  • It really sucks when it doesn't work though. I used to wake up 5 minutes before my alarm like clockwork, and then ONE day I didn't set it. Well, guess what phone call I get that lovely morning.

  • I still get emails from AmeriCorps every now and then. It was a fun year of camping in a tent and maintaining trails and such in remote parks, and then another fun year of working in an impoverished school with families who needed help applying for aid. It is mind boggling that these idiots think the best way of saving money is cutting people from the workforce who make a stipend (not even a wage, so it can be fucked with in taxes even more) of something like $11,000 a year... and thus losing labor that makes a large impact down the road.

  • People got IP banned all the time. How would they do that based on a post if there wasn't IP data connected to the messages? Combine with text being small storage size, and I can't believe that anyone over the age of 22 thought that there was any true anonymity from the backend.

  • The real problem with WoD games? The setting books and DM intros are always so good at crafting that beautiful eerieness of the monsters in the shadows, while the average group handles everything by clunking around like toddlers on stilts.

My group tried three times, then it was back to standard 'kick-in-the-door' style games. Roleplaying isn't the easiest thing, and it sucks. I just want a good werewolf or hunter game with some nice politicking and investigation. I'm not even asking for anything crazy, like an introspective mage or changeling meditation session! /cries_in_desperate_desire

  • So I feel slightly bad about this now, but I know there was a solid year where I didn't wash my calves and below. I had been moved to a 0330 hours start time, and I was just a zombie when getting ready for work. I finally had adjusted everything after that year, and then it just hit me one day that I hadn't been washing my calves or feet. I would just get in the shower, and then go head to thigh and get out. Neither the spouse or I shave the legs, so it's not like that was taking care of the problem either.

And you know what? No one noticed. Not me, not coworkers, not the spouse, not the kids, not the dog (well, I don't really know if the dog noticed), not extended family members that I saw once in a while, and nobody that ever said anything at the beach/pool. My skin looked the same, I didn't have any extra odor... So I don't know. I'm just one data point, but I sort of get the whole 'no bathing' movement. It's maybe possible to get to the point where simply rinsing off muck and obvious grime is enough without having to scrub or clean. My personal opinion is that it would be nearly impossible in the more 'yucky' areas, like the groin and armpits, and you definitely want to have good care of the oils on your face and back/shoulders.

Sucking toes may not have been in there, but plenty of feet intimate moments did occur without issue. /shrug

  • I would have to wonder if there were any nurses/doctors that found themselves spinning a fidget spinner later that day. Maybe they knew where it came from... maybe they didn't.

  • Yeah, children play with their genitals far more than I ever wanted to believe. I don't really remember doing it as a kid, but it wouldn't surprise me if most parents, including mine, have stories about the odd things that happen.

  • Just repeating what the others said, but the 40 hour work week is brutal enough on balancing home and family. When I would pull overtime shifts and work 60-80 hour weeks, only a fool would have been able to look at what was going on and call it reasonable. I'd come home from work, if it was day 6 I would throw the clothes in the wash, crawl into bed, wake up and shower, put on the work uniform, and go back to work.

Food was whatever restaurant or fast food joint a coworker was heading to, and maybe some peanut butter or crackers at home.

I was single then, and no kids or true responsibilities outside of work. It would have been insanity to try and add significant chores and child-rearing to that timetable, and any romance with the partner would be impossible. It doesn't have anything to do with gaming, much less your wife and family.
