  • Exactly, literally a hobby and not a job, people contributing time they absolutely don't need to in order to create something for others to enjoy.

And you're criticising them because they're taking too long. Taking too long with their unpaid voluntary work for a product lots of people will enjoy.

    Seeing it yet? :) x

  • The analogy is that someone insulting people trying their hardest while doing nothing of importance themselves are worse than the supposed injustice they point out in the first place.

In this scenario, the volunteer modders are the paralympians, and you're the douchebag criticising them for contributing something to the world despite having nothing productive to show themself.

    Hope I helped :) x

  • Ahhhh it's weirdly beautiful mate. This whole exchange is like one big illustration on irony and (ironically) you end your point by illustrating just how little you understood my posts.

It really is satisfying. But if you want to teach me something and show me why it would be ironic to insult you in a post which was designed specifically to insult you then I'm all ears :) x

  • No insults, just a guess :) x

The insult was your OP, and Arnold does a good job of illustrating why it makes you a cunt (there's the insult!)

Do you understand irony? Irony is including 8 emojis in a post defending yourself from being called a 10 year old.

Someone insulting you in a response which (by your definition) was only posted to insult you is just logical. Where's the irony?

The analogy is the post mate, but how would you know if it stayed blue...?

  • Yes I thought you might say something along those lines, have you ever heard of an analogy...?

I know you think you're making a relevant point, but really you just look like a 10 year old who struggles putting 2 and 2 together.

This has nothing to do with skyrim modding, and everything to do with your perception of a group of people who don't deserve your hate.

Let me know when you turn 11 and we can try again :) x

  • I certainly did, he made a very eloquent point.

A great husband he isn't, but why should that mean you assume everything he says is bs?

Very closed minded way to live.... It's very possible to agree with someone on one point and still think they're a pos when it comes to other points.

  • I'm from Somerset which would be a classic answer but Norfolk is still considered the one county that saves us from being the goto joke inbreds.

It's a load of bs anyway... I'm barely related to my wife at all!

  • Bear in mind that his public perception has gone from lovable billionaire selling flamethrowers because it's cool, to right wing douchebag supporting putin. News outlets tend to pick nice photos of the "good guy" and find something awful for the bad.

Though I do agree, he's not aged well. But our perception is probably skewed by cherry picked photos for news articles through the years.

  • As much as buying and eating a whole chocolate cake is 100% a bad idea for your health, doing it once is unlikely to have any noticable impact beyond making sure you have horrible shits for a day or so.

Doing it (or similar) habitually will obviously drastically increase your chances of heart attacks and other issues though of course.

But if you want to reward your inner 8 year old every once in a while I say do it, too many people make themselves permanently unhappy with dieting. The (much easier said than done) trick is very well known, and it's simple moderation.

  • Yes it was, good call. I have such a clear image of ace ventura saying it in my head but that's clearly fabricated.

Easy mistake to make given Jim Carrey just plays Jim Carrey in both roles I guess.

  • Agree with everything you've written. Linux users are frequently the worst thing about it, I'm sure lots are reasonable but seeing (the vocal part of) the community really puts me off becoming a part of it.

Nice to see that my experience isn't reflective of all users though, thanks mate :)

  • The ship has sailed there. Microsoft aren't going anywhere soon and in the long run they will continue to win.

There are plenty of good causes which I hypocritically agree with and don't put into practise, eating meat is bad for me and the planet but I'll still enjoy a steak without feeling like a villain believe it or not.

Blaming someone for choosing Microsoft is a dick move, Linux doesn't work for everyone (I.e. non tech people) so what should they (myself included) be doing instead in your opinion?

The whole system needs to fail before a company like Microsoft loses, if that happens great. But until then me want play new games, me not know Linux tech, me use bad guy company to enjoy me time. Most importantly, me don't feel bad for doing it.

Seriously though, I pick my battles and try to not be evil while doing so. Microsoft selling an extra copy of windows once every 10 or 15 years won't turn them into our all powerful overlords and it's the easiest way for me to enjoy my free time, and on balance I'm fine with that.

  • My lack of understanding of your sentence is exactly why I'll never bother with Linux. It may be amazing and triple my PCs speed but I simply don't have time (or motivation) to learn the vocabulary, let alone how things actually work.

Windows may be worse than Linux, but I can install it and be playing any game I want within a few hours with no research. I just cba with anything that I have to think about for more than 2seconds when I want to use my PC, it exists for me to kill time (and occasionally various admin tasks) and I don't have any need to complicate life further by using Linux and having to keep up with the latest ssh or whatever you're talking about.

  • I get that people exist who have no interest in actually watching, but if you're on social media (lemmy included) it seems impossible to have actually not heard of these.

Clearly I'm wrong though, it just really surprised me.
