  • I have an electric car and I enjoy the way the extra torque feels on my body. I don't mind getting to the red light and waiting sooner and I'm not accelerating above the speed limit or doing anything unsafe.

  • My understanding of the younger generation is that the straight guys aren't as afraid of gay stuff as they used to be. So the twist premise would probably just be a bunch of guys comfortable enough in their heterosexuality to suck a dick or two in order to win a game. Probably wouldn't even need there to be a monetary prize at the end.

  • Sure. It's also pretty common as a joke format to respond to something one way when you know it was meant to be taken in a different way.

In English we used to call it the old switcheroo, but my comment is a pretty lame example of one.

  • He is proficient with magic technology.

He's an idiot when it comes to literally everything else. He does frequently overcome his idiocy in other areas by using his magic technology to dominate the situation but it backfires just as often as not. He thinks he's better than everyone else, and in one powerful way he is, so he uses that to compensate.

Anything to do with people or reality not filtered through an alcoholic depression lens it's very clear he doesn't know how to handle it, and that includes basic self care.

The problem is that a lot of idiot savant tech-heads see themselves in him but miss the constant intentional criticism of his character.

  • Not quite the same but very much the same feel...

I started doing this with the X-men comics. The first 60 or so issues are very rough and I haven't gotten through them yet. Apparently they did a 1-off around issue 63 where they reboot the series with a lot of the characters you'd expect and that's where it starts being good but damn I don't want to skip Jean Grey fainting while wondering if Scott is attracted to her and then getting captured one more time!

  • I find Lemmy significantly worse than reddit was in this regard. The number of times I've had my different (not unpopular outside of lemmy) opinion met immediately with personal insults is way higher here in the few months I've been here than my years with reddit.

I've just been learning not to engage on any of the lemmy propaganda areas, and that leaves me with a lot less active communities.
