  • The audiobook isn't so bad. It's certainly 64hrs of audio... And took me 3 months.

  • Grill is such a broad term, too. Camping grills, tripod saucer grills, suburban home grills, BBQ grills, home made fire pit with iron grates. Perhaps we'll see certain types become less popular, but the grill has existed for nearly as long as civilization.

  • That's almost always caused by one of your nodes' IPs being logged doing sketchy stuff. Try picking a different route.

  • Is that the worst of it? Maybe I should see it... I mean I liked the first Michael Bay Transformers movie despite the ludicrous product placement.

  • It's very sad. I'm fortunate that it was the opposite for me. Born into a hyper-conservative Catholic family, then when 3 out of 4 of their children wound up LGBTQ, they realized that God might have been telling them something. They're extremely and refreshingly Christ-like, and total allies. They treat my same-sex fiancé as their full-blown in-law.

  • I'm sure you're right, but I've seen that little orange devil do very naughty things with the BT protocol before. My coworker has one and it makes me very uneasy with my BYO devices.

  • I'm a furry, not a weeb.

  • By that logic, Elvis or Michael Jackson would be a better contender.

  • Furries are a community off-shoot of the broader sci-fi fandom that started in the 1970's, characterized by a fondness for anthropomorphic reprisentation in media. It expanded from it's sci fi roots into fantasy, alt-historical fiction, slice of life, and yes, porn, because nerds are horny.

Furries is also the term for the characters that are created by the members of the community, and also has been used to describe other characters in other media, but it's worth noting that not all of these come from furries (the people), though by now nearly all do. The lead character artists for Zootopia and Sing are out furries, for example. And Vivziepop and the Lackadaisy team certainly are furries.

  • S-step on me, Renamon... 😳

  • There are 2 types of furries. Those in tech who are suspiciously wealthy, and poor artists who get commissioned by the former. Furries run IT btw. 10+% of my MSP team are furries.

  • I just learned how to manually install PCL5 from the "Professionals ONLY!" Section of their driver download page.

  • horror

  • As someone who hates horror but loves SF: Alien Isolation is pretty nuts. I legit threw my controller when the AI outsmarted me and caught me in a doorway face-2-face. I couldn't play again for months.

  • Unfortunately, Taylor Swift is probably the most traditionally american top 40 artist, given her genre inspirations, but the US is probably too large to pick just one artist. I bet it'd be far more interesting to find out what each state has contributed to our national artistry.

  • Noooo! How DARE you taint my FOSS environment with options for a subscription-incentive-driven UX! You're basically inviting FAANG to walk all over us! /s

  • Freedom means nothing without rights. Every society is a "free" society to kings and billionaires, not so much for the poor. Freedoms are rights plus allowance. We allow for much in the US, but we do not universally uphold rights.

  • If you're remote-accessing these resources and can't always be home to manage the cutover to cellular, I recommend splurging on a Unifi Dream Machine and LTE Backup module. Getting a verizon gateway or similar device won't properly communicate with your network and has to use it's own judgement through traffic monitoring to know when to take over DHCP/routing. We (local MSP) just resolved an issue where these devices couldn't tell between an ISP blip or an outage and so it would wrestle DHCP from the firewall when they still had internet, killing their wireless printers. Unifi LTE communicates with the UDM over a very verbose and reliable protocol. The LTE doesn't kick on until the FW realizes there's a problem on the primary WAN.

  • It's not that qualities like leadership and morality are required for the Presidency, it is the implicit understanding that the American people, as a whole, would filter those men and women with the best qualities among the populace to the top. However, instead, we have a hijacked political system where only 2 lobby-chosen candidates do not need to convince the populace of their leadership skills, only that they're not as bad as the other guy. The 2 party establishment killed the presidency.

  • Other people's opinions should not force you to change your own. People shouldn't be judged by how they choose to partake in our internet microcosm. I much prefer sync over FAANG products.

  • The reason nobody liked 2042 was because it shook things up to much. If they were going back to their roots I might be hyped.
