  • Perhaps you might benefit from some inward reflection? Presuming your observations to be accurate, why does it bother you? If women had good reason, or any reason, to distrust or avoid men, how would that change how you interact with them? What drives you to seek the kinds of interactions with women that your desiring? Is there anything in how you speak with women that might not be very inviting to further conversation?

The internet is a funny place. People are very often not who they seem to be. Usernames and avatars often portray a person in a way that mismatches the person behind the keyboard. Even when people use their real name and a true photo, they can end up being very different than who you might think. This happens in everyday life, including face to face IRL relationships.

What are you looking for in such interactions, DuckWrangler? Does it align with what they are hoping for?

When women read your post here, how might they perceive what you've written? Would they be put off? Why? Do the presumptions bother them? Do they sense entitlement that puts them off? Do they sense someone with ulterior motives? Again, why?

  • Why use the grammatical quantifier "all"?

Clearly, politicians enrich themselves in a variety of ways. Clearly, many of them use their positions of power to abuse that. And still clearly, there are examples of politicians that truly are working to change things for the better. Some of those persons sacrifice much and lose out on many opportunities.

There is no single answer for "all" politicians, but there is plenty of evidence to say that many do it to enrich themselves while others do it to enrich their communities as best they can.

In the end though, politics tends to change people and often not for the better...

  • What country are you in? What kind of job are you applying for? What are the drug laws in your area and/or nation? What industry are the jobs within? Many industries are legally bound to drug test. Does the company do this to prevent legal liability for some reason? Perhaps company reputation, dependability, and/or cost management are important factors for them . Etc etc.

In short, depending on the area, drug testing is pretty normal.

As for social media, always assume that your employer, co-workers, and anyone in your life will look up your social media and use it as a basis for understanding and assessing you. If you're concerned about what people will think, then privatize and/or anonymize your social media use.

  • Just need to now pass and implement a Protecting Americans from Domestic Adversary Controlled Applications Act with adversary defined as all the data stealing, data selling, shareholder value maximizing, endless increasing profit, grotesquely capitalistic, corporations.

  • Purity is a human construct. Purity doesn't exist.

What you can do... What you can effect... Is to always improve, always learn, and always grow.

Press forward in goodness and wholeness. Let that be purity enough.

  • The two companies "engage in substantial head-to-head competition and the proposed merger would remove that competition," Ferguson wrote. As a result, the proposed merger would likely to lead to outcomes that "unilaterally" harm consumers, and is thus "presumptively unlawful. "

Judge Ferguson also ruled the merger would be bad for workers, arguing increased consolidation would reduce workers' bargaining power.

So grateful for how this touch handle this. πŸ’œ

The ruling represents a victory for the Biden administration and especially FTC Chair Lina Khan, who has taken an unprecedentedly aggressive approach toward countering mergers likely to create monopolies.

    +1 Khan!

  • Well goodness. I read the article, fortunately, but it's good to see other people pointing out here.

My initial thought was that this was the matrix we obviously care about. I didn't look at the details to see if these people are truly nefarious and do belong in jail, which I'm okay with, but it was definitely troubling to imagine that something I thought secure wasn't secure. 😬

  • This is precisely what I was looking for just now. I was trying to determine what the next steps for beehaw were. Could anyone provide a link to an announcement from beehaw? I'm going to look into sublinks later today. A cursory look shows that it's lemmy compatible and has better moderation tools. I know this has been one of the key reasons why beehaw struggled with the current version of lemmy they are using. I'm very curious about it now.

  • It's less weird than you might imagine. Bigotry is interesting that way, especially when religion and worldview comes into play. Most religious folks that are anti-lgbt will decry other forms of bigotry.

Humans are consistently inconsistent this way. 😏

  • Wait, you didn't hear? Apparently no one has the power to stop them. Not a single nation. Not a single leader. Not a one with the power, influence, or strength.

    Truly reprehensible.

An entire ethnic group is systematically being wiped out and out their land taken.

I wish there was an "anti-rapture" where the worst were taken all at once to forever live in hell, leaving us poor miserable souls to be "left behind" to suffer a life of peace and decency toward humankind.

  • This is what I keep telling everybody, but nooooo... they keep believing in the imaginary benevolent being who is always watching us while we sleep. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

  • I don't know... I've been developing websites for decades and, at least from my phone, that's pretty youch even for 2016. Haha.

  • Judging books by their cover? Tsk tsk tsk. 😜

And no, I haven't actually read the books or heard of the series. But I'll check it out now! πŸ™ƒ

  • Read the article. Watch the interviews.

    "Evacuate, surrender, or starve."

Israel isn't even obfuscating their intent at all. Their government is intentionally committing war crimes and is actively cleansing Palestinians for their own gain.

Many "Western" nations, particularly the United States, have been complicit in these abominable crimes.

There is no integrity left. Nations like these do not deserve to be looked up to. They don't deserve respect when their governments are so morally bankrupt. Democracy is in decay.

Terrorism never is and never will be okay. It must be stopped. In responding, nations mustn't ever lower themselves to the degree that we are seeing today. This isn't about stopping terrorism. And never was. Their actions cannot be justified.

The nations complicit with Israel's actions hide behind moral platitudes and laws that they've twisted to make them appear on the right side when the reality is that they now embody some of the worst evils of humanity.

    Vile.

  • An interesting video, thanks!
