Petition to stop calling things that are 'trash' 'mid'. 'Mid' means middle. I would not be upset by watching something that's mid but I wouldn't be happy about it either. I take it that if you can't be bothered to watch it even for free, it's probably just 'trash'

I think that's just for a different sort of person. While there is some relatively high level discussion on lemmy we also like to circlejerk just about other things. Different strokes for different folks. The two services aren't that different besides Lemmy being foss

In Cuba they literally went from super racist and clinging to Spain, to multicultural and trying to get independence from Spain, then back to Jim Crow type racism because of US influences.

Latin America also has a rich and beautiful history of democracy and relative cultural unity so it's still surprising to see all these dictators come to power. Almost every single country (if not every single one) that revolted against Spain from 1808-1825 ended up becoming a democracy. We need to put this thought at the forefront so as to avoid dictatorial strongmen.

If the goal is to win and overwhelming force is an option, that option will always win. On the contrary, in the modern world, humans tend to try to find non-violent means in order to bring an end to wars. There are two good arguments here.

1. Biologically attractive people will be generally more successful at having casual sexual encounters. Whether or not this tracks to actually finding love or just finding sex is unsure. Furthermore, whether it has to do with "unattractive" people being less confident/more self-conscious is yet to be shown.
2. If you take care of yourself and actually go out and interact with women (and people in general), forcing yourself into uncomfortable social situations, eventually you'll get better at talking to people and talking to people is like 80% of dating.

This is total bullshit. This is a problem we face because of shitty zoning laws and capitalism, not population. Besides that, UN projections indicate population topping off at 15 billion before pulling back and eventually reaching replacement rate around 12 billion. Without any technological advancement, and only advancement of logistics and society, the earth has plenty of space to feed and house that many humans.

I can almost guarantee you much prefer civilization to the natural state. It's nice not having to find your next meal, often going days or even weeks at a time without eating, right? That's just one of many ways that civilization makes your life better than without.

Compared to the average person, yes, you are a very heavy user. Most people use their laptop for little more than browsing the internet.

I have 8 and am able to play 4x games at high settings w/o significant lag until late game lol. People really tend to blow this one out of proportion. Unless you're an incredibly heavy user you probably don't need more than 8 and 16 still feels luxurious.
