  • I also have T-Mobile 5G. I once had the luxury of being able to buy fiber 1G up/down before I moved to a new area and that was the absolute best of any ISP I've ever had. Now my only real option with a physical connection is Xfinity copper that was offering 200mbps down 10 mbps up for just $50/mo* terms and conditions apply. $50 is the promotional price for this offer. After one year this offer will expire. Then every year id have to field a call from their promotional dept. offering a 100mbps increase to my speeds for just $5 more per month rather than losing the promotional price and the bill costing $80 with no increase. The straw that broke the camel's back was an attempt to charge an extra $5 a month for using autopay with a debit card. I could save that fee by switching to using my bank's routing number. So I told Comcast 🖕and switched.

My favorite story though is when an Xfinity rep called me to ask about who provides my cell phone service. When I told them that i use Mint mobile and pay $20/mo for 20GB of data or whatever it was at the time, they just straight up told me, "Oh gotcha. Yeah, we can't compete at that price." Then hung up 😂

My only real gripe with T-Mobile so far is that if your price is accurate, then I'm paying an extra $15/mo just based on location despite there being no physical difference in our connection. Also i don't like that I'm unable to do any port forwarding on T-Mobile so it prevents me from running my Jellyfin server and PiHole from home and being able to use it anywhere.

  • I use a Motorola Edge+ 2023 with a 5100 mAh battery. The iPhone 15 Plus has a 4383 mAh battery which is about as close as I can get in comparisons. I run Firefox as my preferred browser AND for YouTube playback with uBlock Origin for a couple hours a day and it still lasts me a whole day. I normally only need to charge it to full in the morning while I eat breakfast and will normally get a low battery alert at 20% around 8pm. That's about 12 hours with pretty heavy use.

The iPhone 15 plus was given an active use score of 16.5 hours by gsm arena. So regardless, you're charging about once a day.

  • It's easy to blame yourself for this stuff, but the people that are actually responsible take advantage of that empathy. All we can do is verbally condemn the people responsible and in some cases show action by attending or organizing public protests.

Its equatable to oil companies blaming consumers for plastic waste, oil spills, and fossil fuel emissions.

  • For the people that are inevitably going to ask why we are issuing this warning to an enemy, this warning will serve as proof of a forewarning to the Russian citizens and that the attack could have been prevented. Whenever Putin took power, he used a series of staged apartment building explosions to unify support under the guise of terrorism. Russian citizens even found explosives planted on the building they were going to blow up next and there were pieces of equipment and markings used by the Russian intelligence agency on the explosives. The official response is that they were not real and it was going to be used for a training exercise....in the middle of a series of attacks using explosives on apartment buildings.

So the US intelligence community is trying to prevent Putin from being able to allow this attack on his people and use it to garner support based on fear and an affirmation that the Russian people are under attack by outside entities.

  • I very much disagree. Like it or not reddit has a large user base. Why not make it simple for people to migrate? All you would be doing is pushing away people from Lemmy. It's not like anyone that has switched to Lemmy is going to drop out because the software allows you to transfer information from an account from a similar site.

That's like taking away the import bookmarks and saved passwords functions on Firefox because you see Chrome and Edge as evil. If you want something you like to be successful, you need to make it convenient for people to try out.

  • Disagree. I seriously doubt that anyone would turn the key. I don't think Russia could inflict enough losses to hurt NATO logistical operations and I think NATO would prioritize careful advancements to minimize casualties and give the Russian military a frog in the pot treatment. When they realize that its all over, it will be too late and I think we would see a russian revolution before then.
