  • I occasionally watch some YouTube videos, but I favour podcasts as they are optimized for non-visual consumption - it's bothersome to watch the screen while doing something that requires attention from your eyes.

  • rent control

Rent control is such a poor substitute for building massive amounts of social housing. I wish it would stop taking up oxygen in the debate already so that we can focus on effective solutions instead

  • I used to struggle with mundane tasks, mostly on account of the lack of mental stimulation, until I discovered podcasts. This problem is no more for me, I can do dishes and fold laundry until the end of time now

  • To be clear, I'm not necessarily against sign language interpreters.

They do miss out on what I consider to be an important part of accessibility though - they are not an example of universal design. High-quality captions are an example of universal design, which gives them higher staying power (what right-winger would move to kill captions?) and makes it easier to justify investments.

  • This post brought to you by the government of Sweden

    (agreed though)

Come to think of it, maybe we can force them to speak Danish as a form of humiliation? You know, like Make America Danish (derogatory)?

  • Indeed! I was planning on mentioning that as well but forgot.

IKEA is an acronym: Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd - the name of the founder Ingvar Kamprad, the village of Elmtaryd (now spelled Älmtaryd) located in the parish of Agunnaryd.

    Älmtaryd/Agunnaryd are located in Småland.

  • It is indeed.

It's a bit of a play on words, since Småland literally translates to Small land, making it apt as this is where you can leave your children at IKEA.

I looked up the etymology of the name out of interest, and it seems like it stems from it being made up of a collection of smaller self-ruling villages, located between Skåne that has often been under Danish control, and Götaland which was controlled by Götar.

  • otherwise it will be just another cost to pass on to the client.

There's literally nothing wrong with this - just pass it on.

You'll make it out ahead on the time savings alone, which you as someone who necessarily must travel by car will stand to gain the most from.

  • Contrary to what this poster is claiming, it's been a raging success in every place it's been implemented, as can be seen in the meta-analyses of studies on the policy.

But don't believe me nor the poster, read the meta-analyses yourself so that you come away truly informed.
