  • This is more unsettling than a needle to me.

  • Opportunity cost. The money they are spending on Gamepass could be spent on something else with a better return.

  • So pretty. Can't wait for snow here.

  • Cautiously optimistic. Hopefully it's respectful to the source material.

  • Researchers at ITER, which is over budget, behind schedule and facing major technical problems

    Sounds promising

  • Still on Lemmy exclusively, but it's not my first time using a reddit alternative. This is normal. A large influx of users when reddit fucks up, but some slowly migrate back. Until reddit fucks up again. The problem is none of the alternatives survive long term.

  • As a parent and homeowner I definitely feel like an adult now. But I do still reach out to my parents for help and support from time to time. I'm really going to miss them when they're gone, but being "at the top of the trouble ladder" isn't something I had considered.

  • This was my thought too, delayed gratification. Lot's of people make short term decisions that have negative long-term effects on their mental, physical, or financial health. And humanity does it as well, such as pollution or using fossil fuels when we know it's going to cause problems in the future.

  • That's a cool idea. The bottom of the ocean is a pretty hostile environment though, it better be very well engineered to have any sort of longevity.

    Trying to understand the world

  • I guess I wasn't clear. A car in general is not freedom. But being able to afford a luxury vehicle like a Lamborghini probably means you have enough money to not worry about everyday expenses. That is something a lot of people want.

Personally, I hate cars. I bike as much as I can.

  • I agree, I commute by bike. But being able to buy a luxury car probably means you have a sizable disposable income and don't have to worry about everyday expenses.

  • The car is a symbol of financial freedom, something I think a lot of people aspire to.

  • Have they tried defunding the police?

  • Not the asshole, they're mad because they have to work now.
