  • I definitely remember reading about it a while before release in Game Informer, and I think the game was originally going to just be an RTS. At some point they made 3rd person gameplay most of the playtime and the RTS separate. As far as I remember the RTS battles are all in the main story and theres no way to play more RTS battles if you wanted to (theyre mid anyway).

The game was also obviously incomplete, with the whole middle act being especially bare bones.

  • I think in the west, we mostly only hear from the government, and not regular people because they don't speak English and aren't on western websites. Regular people probably have a lot of the same concerns we do. Of course, the government wants to increase total productivity and don't care if it causes an upset for regular people.

Keep in mind, one example of "more productive" to the Chinese is passing AI generated bullshit through as peer reviewed academic articles, like nobody is gonna notice the rat with a dick larger than its own body.

So I'd say people who care about ethics, or academic integrity, or whatever, still have something to worry about. China just doesn't care.

  • Just as a reminder, r/whitepeopletwitter was suspended for 72 hours over a post calling to specifically dox and murder a list of federal officials' names.

It took years for r/chapotraphouse to be banned for pushing calls for violence against police to the front page repeatedly.

It took one comment deep in a comment chain from a new account vaguely suggesting violence against police to get r/the_donald banned permanently. This was shortly before BLM started and similar comments would become commonplace all over reddit.

People who've been paying any attention at all know what's up.

  • I, too, first heard this quote from Adam on Mythbusters as a child. But, I'm pretty sure I also heard it was said first by some philosopher.

I would later be informed that "some philosopher" was the 1984 film The Dungeon Master.

Only apparently that was not the first, and it was said in a 1974 episode of Doctor Who. Well, someone on Reddit said that, and linked to this WikiQuote page but on that page it also says it's from The Dungeon master.

So, I don't know what to believe any more, and I still hope it was actually an obscure lost quote of Rene Magritte or something because in my head it would just make sense.

  • Imagine comparing the situation in the united States, where women have favorable hiring and scholarship status, to the Taliban state where women are literally property and not allowed to get a job or education under threat of death. Like actual death, not someone online telling you something rude.
