  • Hey, it's ok. I was a younger conservative too until I left my parents house and met people outside of my small town and started thinking for myself.

    Then I realized all the talking points I had been fed were strawman arguments based on fear and designed to maintain control.

    But I like bowls so my judgment may be questionable /s

  • Part of the reason it was removed is because he was arrested, and because members of the public asked Apple to remove it. This is the government and private citizens influencing a company to deplatform an absolute cunt. And it's not a whim, that private company has clear and public guidelines for what is allowed on their platform

  • Yeah, the US has a great history of moving certain demographics to a separate section in order to appease bigots.

    The government has never done anything bad by censuring certain people due to their identity. It's the government, and they're making dozens of small decisions in small, right leaning rural areas which has no effect on the people there.

  • Still fairly new to the world of computer security myself, so anyone can feel free to correct me of course, but basically;

    While adding capitals, lowercase, numbers, etc does make the password more complex, it also makes it harder for the average user to remember. This means that many users reuse the same password across multiple sites/platforms. Or they use shorter passwords with common tricks like Pa$$word1. That checks all the requirements for a "secure" password but it really isn't. Hackers know that people use $ in place of S, people often use some variation of "password" in their password, and the number is usually a 1 or something easily guessable like the year they were born.

    So the more up to date recommendation is to use a long and strong password (like at least 12 characters long), or a password manager and 2FA.

  • Let's get rid of passwords entirely

    • fucking annoying
    • can't believe they sold people that it's BETTER to have to type a whole password to login
    • incredibly annoying
    • if you're using this willfully you're clearly just as worried about security as before anyway
    • companies love having real passwords to pair with 'their' data
  • My mom found porn on my computer in high school so my parents decided it would be a good idea to sit the whole family down and talk about what she found and what new restrictions the Internet would have for us all.

    Turns out that restrictions on porn for high schoolers don't work and just make them more... creative. That was my first taste of learning about IT haha so maybe I should actually thank them.

  • Wow interesting. I was about to ask how they're supporting 4k60 DP on the models limited to USB 2.0 speeds and how that all works. I decided to look it up though and found this comment;

    "The USB Type-C connector allows for up to four high-speed differential pairs, which can be allocated to different protocols. For example, you could implement 5Gbps or 10Gbps SuperSpeed USB using two of the pairs and use the other two for dual-lane DisplayPort. Alternatively, you could have all four pairs used for quad-lane DisplayPort to drive high-resolution or high refresh rate displays.

    Notably, there are dedicated USB 2.0 data lines on the USB Type-C connector that are always available, no matter the configuration of the high-speed differential pairs.

    So in this case Apple just had to connect their existing USB 2.0 interface to those dedicated pins and run the new DisplayPort interface to the high-speed differential pairs. For the 15 Pro models, it may actually more complicated since they might need to add multiplexers to switch the differential pair lines between the SuperSpeed interface and the DisplayPort interface as appropriate."

  • Maybe a little bit better, some of the ones most responsible for brainwashing the younger generation are people like Rupert Murdoch, Dennis Prager, etc.

    But I agree, people shouldn't be complacent. I actually found this article on the conservative site iPatriot talking about upcoming and younger influential conservatives.

  • You frame it as killing someone for who they are (rich) while the aggressive communist frames it as what the rich have done (destroy countless lives for personal monetary gain)

    Not saying that it's ok, I wouldn't condone murder in a public setting of course. Just saying :)

  • What do they know? How about you let us all in on the secret of why unions are bad?

    Every study and source I've seen says it results in higher pay and better working conditions, but maybe you have a reliable source saying otherwise?
