  • I'm American so to me this looks good.

  • I used the Equilux GTK theme for years but it's been abandoned since 2018 and GNOME has changed a lot since then. I switched to Colloid and it didn't take much to tweak it to my liking, mainly reducing the size of the titlebar and panel.

  • I think they're the go-to company if you want to get a laptop in 2023. I got my unit back in 2021 and used it every day since, and it has taken quite a beating. It went though several light impacts and one big drop but the only thing to show for it is a small dent on the back.

    My only two complaints are

    • After a year, the USB-C cable supplied with the laptop started to split open. I don't know if this is only a defect in early batches but it's worth noting.
    • Suspend on Linux is an issue. Linux works great but it doesn't suspend properly. Putting in this command as root echo "deep" > /sys/power/mem_sleep which makes your system use deep sleep instead of s2idle which solved the issue but waking up from suspend is now 8-10 seconds instead of 2 seconds.

I expect these hardware issues and more to be fixed on newer boards and the framework 16 but I'll continue to use my 13 and upgrade to an AMD board and use my intel board to make a mini PC. There's really no reason to buy Dell, HP, or Lenovo anymore now that framework exist and has delivered on all their promises.

  • I wish. Even xfce will get wayland support before they do.

  • It sucks that cool projects like hyprland are usually riddled with toxic weirdos that ruin it. It also sucks that there's not much to choose in the wayland space that's usable and actively developed but I refuse to use hyprland after seeing this.

  • There's no better platform on the fediverse because of how many people are here.

  • The Ooze. My memory on this is fuzzy but on genetics lab part 2, there is a room you can enter that has a checkpoint. If you enter the room then you're locked inside and if you collect the checkpoint and die, you will respawn back into the room and your only option is to lose all your lives or reset the game. I remember getting really pissed off finding this when I was a kid because I spent days trying to beat the game and I had a really good run up until that moment.

  • I have been pretty comfortable here because I'm into nerdy things and most of us here are nerds. In fact, the only people that cared about reddit locking down the API were nerds or people jumping on the bandwagon because it was the next big thing. Others didn't care and just wanted reddit back and a lot of people that were here in the beginning went back to reddit. We will probably grow overtime but there's no point in wondering why lemmy isn't more popular, just participate in the communities you like.

  • I'm tired of GNOME messing with it's API but hopefully this is the last time since they're switching to a standard system. Besides that, it's my favorite DE on Linux. I have to give plasma 6 a shot when it comes out but right now GNOME feels just right compared to other desktops.

  • I can't stand Bluetooth headphones, the delay is unbearable. It's gotta be wired or 2.4ghz for me.

  • If there's a game that can't run on Linux in the current year then that's intentional and it's not worth anyone's money.

  • Hopefully the day of RISC-V overthrowing x86 is sooner than we think. Progress on development has been fast and it's very exciting.

  • Papirus is by far the best icon theme for Linux. It has icons for even the most obscure and niche applications

  • Teeworlds. When I was a kid I searched up "free online multiplayer games on pc" and it actually led me to this Wikipedia article full of open source games. I tried out teeworlds and I was hooked on it and it led me to playing other open source games like cube 2 and open arena. In my head, the term open source meant "free stuff". Searching for open source stuff led me to discovering Linux and trying it though the Wubi installer and eventually moving to it a few years later.

  • This is accurate

  • I haven't come across any since yesterday but I'm putting this in just in case

  • Today I started getting ads with no video just audio. I didn't get the adblocker message yet. Firefox ESR+ublock origin

  • Spanish developers using Alfonso Azpiri's art for their games is actually genius. If I was a kid in the late 80's I would have bought game over or R.A.M the moment I saw the cover.

  • That's fucking disgusting. Take any measures you can to prevent that shit from being on the site.

  • Nice, I love Mageia. I recommend anyone still distrohopping to give it a shot.
