  • I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. I want to assure you that not everything has to be perfectly worded and your presence and words are always contributions whether you feel they are or not 💜💜 After all, you cannot know what someone else is thinking or how much they appreciate what you've said, especially if they worry about their ability to contribute too!

As for the community itself, don't worry, we're not going to let it languish or disappear. I can't speak for the entire admin team, but it's one of the highlights of my life and will do everything in my power to keep it healthy. With that being said a community is not a one person job and I'm glad people like you are around to contribute 😄

  • We were explicitly looking to not replicate Reddit - while both are link aggregator websites, we didn't particularly like the general vibe present on Reddit. I think a lot of folks on Beehaw agree with that premise, but functionally speaking there's not a huge difference between the platforms or communities. A lot of the difference seems to be about the vision and philosophy of what the place can and should be.

  • This is a reminder to everyone that we have one rule on beehaw and that you need to follow it or you will catch a ban and if these comments turn into a slug fight we will lock them

  • For fucks sake, we're putting a requirement on how many people have to die for something to be considered bad? Using your logic I should ban you permanently from our instance, because a shorter term ban means that I'm doing 'an absolutely shit job of it'. Luckily for you, I don't prescribe to your world view and wish to give you a chance to self reflect on the fact that the intent to kill a large number of people is, in itself, bad. Whether you're able to execute on murdering a large number of folks doesn't change the evil of the intent.

  • If you haven't looked into used office furniture stores near you, I would highly suggest it. Depending on where you live you could get anywhere from 40 to 80% off, and big name $1k retail chairs are built to last 10+ years and are often lightly refurbished at these stores (and they usually can order parts and do repairs in shop)

  • I greatly appreciate and value the trust this community has placed in us, and I feel a responsibility to all of you wonderful beeple to do everything in my power to do things in an equitable and transparent way whenever possible.

  • We will be reaching out to OCF for clarifications based on whatever potential solutions we come up with

  • We'll make sure it doesn't disappear! I don't think that'll look like pocketing it, more likely just pay down a bunch of credit with our hosting services or something along those lines. No need to overthink or forecast right now, we've got time

  • Our one rule here is to be nice. Calling someone a dumbass is not nice. Be better.

  • Yeah I know I typically cut people like this out of my life but knowing when it's a pattern and not just bad luck and life being busy right now is kinda where things are at right now. I'm hoping it's the latter but I'm leaning towards the former and I think I'm going to assert a boundary next time we plan something

  • Supremely frustrated as of late of flakey people who make plans which fall through and considering setting a boundary around that or just not doing the labor to keep them in my life. Not sure what I wish to do at this point, to be honest, and need to think on it. With that being said, I'm otherwise doing well, on the last few days of antibiotics to recover from strep. Just a few weeks out from getting the peripheral nerve stimulator put back in, assuming they don't blow an IV or two again, so hoping that goes well and doesn't get infected again.

  • 1984 was almost correct, its not the government spying on you, its corporations (which run the government)

  • Aw dang, was hoping there was a synopsis or transcription. Either way, thanks for the link!
