ETHICALLY it's not volunteering if it's coerced, and I can't think of many things more coercive than the promise of more prison.

Funny that you'd bring up white supremacist tactics right after throwing this one out there. Like, how can you bring up statistics to defend the justice system and just ignore 13% of the general population having a 38% share of the prison population?

When you start advocating for a particular group to not reproduce, what else would you call it? You can choose that for yourself but if you suggest it for anyone else you're gonna need to choose your words very carefully to avoid coming across like a super racist from the 19th century.

It seems like many people (me too) base what they think they'll need off of what they're accustomed to. My car will get 275-300 miles out of a tank of gas so it just seems crazy to accept less than half of that. But I don't actually drive that much. Trips where I start full and have to refill before my destination are very rare. Doubling the refueling stops and extending their length wouldn't actually bother me much, especially considering that for my day to day my car would just charge overnight and I never have to go out of my way for it. I guess what I'm getting at is that if I really think about it, a 110-150 mile range is probably about as much as I should be paying for.

They likely have reasons for the existing operating hours so it might work better to have them provision their own energy storage to cover the usage

Napster was amazing for this. You'd start by searching for something specific but it would show you the library of the person you were downloading from. Browsing through their library would lead to all kinds of discoveries. Seeing the raw data yourself and being your own recommendation algorithm was the shit.
