  • I'd barely call this an article, more like an "restatement of everything known" with some extra emphasis on the ship. But eh, it's very likely we could see this again in the next two episode (especially the finale) or in Season 3 (or Lower Decks, for that matter) to give us more of a clue then.

  • I mean, there could be something to say about that, like the name of the ship IU being named after an alien race's/human important figure (like a Tellarite Kelcie Mae scientist) or a captain of an influential starship. But yeah I agree OOU naming a ship after a person is annoying.

Edit: IU is in universe, OOU is Out of Universe.

Edit: I just learned it was named in memory after a huge Star Trek fan who was working on SNW named Kelcie May Sundquist. Rest in Peace.

  • Yeah, I am very much looking foward to it too. A lot of people are doubting this episode but I think it will turn out just fine.

  • That put an image in my head I will never unsee. Thanks.

  • Agreed. I love Balance of Terror.

  • Any Romulan or Vulcan-centric episodes, especially TOS ones. I just like pointy ears, I guess? Edit: changed Romulan episodes to Romulan and Vulcan episodes.

  • I feel like, to answer why the federation time-cops are letting this slide is because fundamentally, it doesn't change much, the events still happen and affect the current galactic-chrono-political thing they have going on, and if they do interfere they could be facing an all-out time-war/"Temporal Hot War" with factions like the Sphere-Builders, Romulans, Na'Kuhl, The Mysterious Benefactor of the Suliban, and other factions that have not been revealed. So I'm willing to think that they are letting that slide so that the timeline isn't damaged irreparably. And they do state that the Temporal Cold War and its factions are trying to eliminate Khan since he's the focal point of the Federation's creation (and kind of what separates our timeline from Star Trek's), they've pushed back Khan 30 years. She does say that she arrived in 1992 and was waiting 30 years to kill him.

To answer your second question and side note, those events will still fit. Just because Khan was moved up doesn't change the whole timeline. To be fair, in "Past Tense" and "Future's End", those cities don't exactly look like they've been ravaged by war, so it's more likely TNG, VOY, DS9, and SNW are their own timeline rather than TOS, TNG, VOY, and DS9. Plus, 49 years is more than enough time to have 2 wars in, especially if they happened back to back.

And, to be fair, Star Trek isn't exactly a strict timeline. We see some differing events all over, probably because Star Trek likes to give things dates. This doesn't necessarily mean it's a new timeline, just that the events happened other than what is said. Temporal Events in Star Trek are supposed to be taken with a grain of salt.

  • One of the best if not the best TOS Episodes, and that's saying something. Although I did feel like the pacing was a little off near the end.

  • Looks to be an episode centered on M'Benga, Ortegas, and Chapel's times in the Klingon War. As the Vulcans would say, Fascinating. I really like the idea of the Klingon War and want to see more of it. Maybe this also could help explain the Klingon changes in-universe.

  • We don't need a "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" prequel just yet!

  • The Bird of Prey design looks... imposing. The Armor, despite being very impractical, looks good. The Alien Race is well-designed, but it's not what I would think Klingon would be. But yeah I kind of like how they're portrayed, as a serious threat instead of some goofy alcohol-addicted space Vikings with a kind-of interesting way of life.

  • That's true, I feel Star Trek is supposed to be fluid in its' timeline, and I don't care much for continuity violations either, even if I try to keep a consistent headcanon. I don't really understand the hate "NuTrek" gets. Just because this alien looks slightly different doesn't mean you need to outrage and invalidate the show's canon status. Also, to be completely honest, I just pulled the first thing that came to mind. There are not a lot of things I can think of.

  • The episode was really good. I like the appearance of the Orion Scout Ship we see in "Journey to Babel", one of my favorite ships. It may raise some slight continuity errors, but who cares. Nice ship, nice episode, nice show. Probably one of the best episodes of Trek I've seen.

  • Ehh... Tomato Tomato.

  • I may not be the OP, but the Klingons from DIS Seasons 1 and 2 are a lot different than SNW Season 2. SNW's look straight up like TNG's Klingons, while DIS looks like something from a fan remake, although there are some explanations that could explain it, but this isn't Daystrom so I'll save them.

  • The most I'd recommend is:

DIS Seasons 1 and 2 ---> SNW ---> LD ---> PRO ---> PIC ---> DIS Seasons 3 and 4 (these can also be viewed before SNW).
