Gun control USA

Jump
  • I mean, my gun is to defend my house. I'm not going to take the gun and run around shooting the abstractum of fascism. There would need to be some kind of strategy, organization, plan, etc for you to expect an armed uprising. Nobody wants to be a martyr, they just want to protect what they have and who they love.

There's a long road littered with the corpses of less bloody solutions that needs to be walked before the second amendment is leveraged, and at that point we would likely need an entire Constitutional Convention of States and rewrite of the constitution to fix our systemic issues.

  • I mean I bought my first gun because of what's going on. Revolutions and wars have often been fought by only a few percent of a population. Most people work jobs and keep society plugging along while shit is done by a few.

You sound pretty flippant with people's lives, why don't you go grab a gun and suicide into an armed force for great justice? There's a difference when you're backed into a corner. If they're at MY door, what else can be done but defend my life with my life? Hope I don't get deported to a gulag without due process? Hope that court orders are obeyed when they haven't been?

Other than that, I'll wait until there's an actual organized resistance than suicide by cop as a martyr. I have people I'm responsible for.

  • Once everyone is convinced that laws are meaningless shit will spiral out of control. Like whose authority would I recognize over my own at this point?

If masked thugs show up at my door they getting shot, I'm not taking their word for who they claim to be.

And even if they are who they say they are, I will not comply with what I perceive to be illegal orders that I have no good faith that I'd be able to argue in a fair court of law, and even if I were convinced of that...

WHAT DOES EVEN WINNING IN COURT MEAN IF COURTS ARE IGNORED?

  • We haven't declared war since WW2. Everything has been AUMF, which can be done within 60 days retroactively. As always, the government is checks and balances, so if Congress refuses to exercise its powers and let the executive do whatever, it's a moot point.

I think it'd only lead to impeachment if Congress wants us gone within 60 days and Trump refuses, continues without an AUMF, and then Congress actually had the balls to push back at that point.

But if someone is more familiar with the legal processes involved here, please do correct me or add to this.

  • I think it's more that we have problems affecting large amounts of the population and people are probably tired of trans being 1% of the population but taking up more than 1% of the discourse. And largely only to the end result of being used as wedge to hurt trans people.

The sad reality is, it would be better for trans rights for the left to win, and the left isn't going to win by ignoring tactics and strategy in a game that the right is metagaming into oblivion with voter suppression and gerrymandering.
