Oh I absolutely used to stim with it :D
My fingers do random swipes all the time, so it's annoying.
I'm not sure anyone is complaining specifically about the DM button, that's the one change that's probably good? Like it doesn't do much for me, and I wouldn't care if they didn't also change how the DM window works. Or how the swiping works in the server.
It's not about the DM button being moved, it's about all the UX they broke in halves. They changed how swipe works, they changed how the DM list works, they changed how search works, none in a good way.
For a lot of "power users", changing how swiping acts goes in direct opposition to the muscle memory, so that's annoying. Some functionality is just gone or is made much worse, like no longer seeing images in search and no longer having autocomplete for the filter terms there. You can no longer look at the DM list and then go back to active DM because swiping there was turned into a dumb back button replacement.
And above all, this is just a canary in the coal mine moment - they do not care about their current app, they will do whatever they like and people are understandably uncomfortable with that.
Personally hate the change to the swipe. I get that on some huge servers people probably use the "reply" feature a lot, but I definitely don't have so much use for it as to give up the nice, coherent and logical UX of "channel/server list is on the left, user list is on the right, just swipe to them".
IMO, swiping should be for navigating UI, not interacting with individual items. Now there's a useless thing on the swipe and I have to reach to the top of the screen if I want to check who's online and in the channel. Annoying.
That and the new DM screen doesn't use swipe right as navigation, it's just a "back" button now. Can't quickly look at the DM list and go back to your conversation by swiping right-left any more. Literal lazy design because this is an easier way to program that interaction.
Don't care super much about the DM button moving, it's more convenient to access but breaks the UI paradigm. Shrug.
Oh, and the "midnight" theme is not new, you could use it for years now in the old versions.
It's a departure from the desktop UI and it made the whole thing much clunkier.
I will be fair, moving the button to the bottom row is more convenient if you have a lot of servers to scroll up through and use the DMs a lot, I don't care about that as much.
What I do care about is how the rest of it changed. Can't just quickly swipe into the DM list and back any more, if you exit the DM that's it, you gotta click on it again.
Switching between DMs and servers is more clunky, a bunch of UI I was actively using is broken up. They broke the search function, and the new way to check channel participants (click on the title) is uncomfortable as hell compared to old "just swipe to the right".
Personally I hate the new UX even if some bits are an improvement. It's just too much stuff to change all at once and not for the better.
I feel that with the puzzles.
I'm not very good at them, but every time I design one players spend so long on it!
I should rewatch that. And actually finish it this time.
First I watched it on TV and you know how that is for continuity.
Then I watched it downloaded and got distracted.

That's impressive!
My ADHD just makes me lose time. Blink and the day is just gone.
Glitch in the matrix
I appreciate the sentiment, but I really don't have time for another hobby.
I did accidentally become a DM for not one but two DnD groups recently.

I know what video you linked even without clicking lol. Yeah, I can agree there. Although my only experience with music was "try to learn guitar, get distracted because ADHD".

That's fair. Personally, I just have a grudge against math notation in general. Makes my programmer brain hurt when there's no consistency and a lot of implicit rules.
Then again, I also like Lisp so I'm not exactly without sin.

I'm with the right answer here. / and * have same precedence and if you wanted to treat 2(2+2)
as a single unit, you should have written it like (2*(2+2))
.
You know, that's fair. Most of my experience with RTX in games so far been in first person shooters and they're kind of lacking in environments like those.
Mostly stuff like slightly better lighting in Cyberpunk or the flickery caustics in recent Robocop game. Bonus points for the games that implement RTX reflections and shadows but don't have your character reflect or cast a shadow.
And that's how you get your whole party executed.
Yeah, we will only start seeing games that fully rely on raytracing when low-mid tier GPUs will be able to support at least current day RTX 3070 performance. As in, you can do better but at least you can run stuff fully in raytracing.
After playing Portal RTX and Quake 2 RTX, my opinion is that what we really need are games that fully embrace RTX as their rendering. Lower poly count, use materials more, lean in onto the cool lighting.
Games like Cyberpunk 2077 use RTX, but it's just painted over so it is very expensive for what it brings to the table. Sure it's more accurate and having reflections is neat, but it costs more than some shadow maps and doesn't beat good artistic design.

Yeah. I remember checking out scripting in Libre and when you put it next to Excel's "just press here and write code", it's kind of bizzare.

The devil is usually in the details.
OSS rich text editors work, but then you send out the document to someone who has Word and they complain about the formatting since it doesn't translate some times. Messenger app experience usually goes "Native Windows > Web app > Linux", at least in the few corporate I used. Stuff like Lark not even being up to date with their web app and Telegram having strange interactions with some window managers.
It works and I gotten people to use raspberry pi instead of their windows computers, but it just feels very unpolished overall.
And then there's the whole package/flatpack/snap/cosmopolitan thing
I mean, at that point just don't roll con saves for them. Special NPC magic (tm).
Short rests take an entire hour though.
