  • If it is appropriate, like in a formal setting or to reciprocate the gesture if they're initiating. Definitely don't squeeze like I do for a man tho.. Even then, I'll let up pressure if it's a weak male handshake.

Informally meeting people, I typically don't shake the person's (man or woman's) hand unless they're extending theirs. Just usually like a wave and "Hey, nice to meet you."

  • Oh no I get that. It really just depends on the game for me. Parasite Eve 2 is one of the prettiest games ever to me. There is something special about that era and the level of detail they were able to paint with the limited graphics.

Also realizing there's the missing ingredient of a CRT screen, which is what brings it all together. Might change my tune seeing Silent Hill on a proper screen again.

  • I had clients in federal probation whose freedom was dependent on the results of annual polygraphs. Refusal was considered a fail, and they'd be shipped back to FedMed or prison. Inconclusive results were also blamed on the clients, and would count as a failed test.

Was total bullshit, especially given the level of function and serious psychiatric symptoms and diagnoses of my clients.

  • Same. I can replay old games and still enjoy them if the gameplay is good. I've been wanting to replay Jack and Daxter again. I don't need the graphics updated. That damn polygon fish will still make me squirm with the increasing heartbeats...

  • I tried grinding and eating Morning Glory seeds as a teen to trip on the LSA in the seeds, but I learned the hard way that they spray the seeds with a noxious chemical which induces vomiting, to stop people from having harmless fun...

I got so sick and puked so much, I still can't eat almond butter due to the similar texture, like 13 years later... I'll instantly feel nauseous and have to hold back vomiting.

  • How to pass/invalidate a lie-detector test.

They are not considered admissible evidence in court (but the criminal justice system still use them to a degree..), and they can be interpreted with intentional bias, so I think it's fine to share.

One of my psychology professors told me that if you hide something like a sewing needle in your shoe's insole, you can ever so slightly apply pressure so that the poke causes a physiological spike. They monitor for movement, so it has to be very minute. The goal is to do this on every control question so that they cannot establish a baseline and have to give up.

  • Yeah, it is most definitely in the US/NATO's best interests to continue supporting Ukraine against russia, as the longer the conflict continues, the more severely russia cripples itself against any future conflicts. It's already an impossibility for russia to feasibly launch a successful offensive against any NATO nation at this point.

Why the hell would we stop supporting Ukraine when that serves to further our own interests and further weaken our greatest enemy?

That is, unless you're a compromised republican/MAGA moron... (Hope it's clear I'm not referring to the user above me here.)

  • This is a section from an evidence-based module on coping with procrastination, but I find some of the strategies are also helpful for distractions/a screwed up routine. It has a great electronically fillable weekly planner chart on page 10.

All of the resources on that site are free and evidence-based (meaning proven beneficial; not some self-help crap). I used that site a lot when I was a caseworker for adults with serious mental illnesses (SMI). I benefitted myself from teaching the information in groups and clinical interventions.
