  • The destruction of the store will mean nothing to wal mart. It's insured.

    Burning it down will cause:

    • serious air pollution to the surrounding neighbors, who are innocent
    • risk to firefighters who respond
    • potential creation of a food desert if wal mart has already driven out competitors, resulting in at risk folks having a harder time accessing food
  • It would be incorrect to call china an "enemy" of the US,...they are more:

    • an adversary on several topics (such as regional territories, relations with Russia on the Ukraine conflict)
    • a partner on others (such as trade)
  • Training an existing model on a specific set of new data is known as "fine tuning".

A base model has broad world knowledge and the ability to generate outputs of things it hasn't specifically seen, but a tuned model will provide "better" (fucking yuck to even write it) results.

The closer your training data is to your desired result, the better.

  • Seeking someone's irl name based on seeing them in a photo is fucked up, regardless of platform.

You're working backwards, you seem to know this person is an influencer personality or something, and are assuming they'd therefore be fine with people seeking them out. The above comment (imo), and my comment are working from the photo only. As such, it's fucked up.

  • Oh yeah. I was fortunate, my boyscout experience included zero diddling and zero religion of any kind. Any religious merit badges were reduced to a discussion on possibilities of religion, and a hand wave sign off.

I gained much of the learning you did, but I acknowledge some others had vastly worse experiences.

  • Valid conclusion, thanks.

That said, the post comes off as more OMGtiktik! Posting rather than "how to grow the fediverse in a post tiktok world"

My frustration comes from the firehouse of inconclusive, unproductive rubbernecking on the wriggling of corporate social media, which is all a program for data extraction, regardless of the extractor.

  • The state of prison labor is a disgrace. That said, the incarcerated firefighters I worked with in 2010to 2019 anecdotally wanted to be there, and specifically elected for the role.

It is my understanding that prisoners can be compelled to do labor, but cannot be forced to accept a hazard position.

Again anecdotally, everyone I chatted with saw the fire crew as a way out: (out of the cell for x days per year, out of the system by building skills, etc).

What I will acknowledge is that it is a dangerous role and they are not compensated sufficiently/ fairly, but many non incarcerated firefighters are paid comically poorly too.

I also anecdotally acknowledge that most assignments are NOT as dangerous/ long running, and in my experience incarcerated crews got mop-up/more routine assignments. The current increased danger may exacerbate their displeasure with this conditions.

I am not condoning anyone being in harms way against their will, and if these folks want out, they should be provided safe transport back to the jail without delay.
