Future time travellers going back in time to the moment the first time machine was invented to figure out how that one worked because in the future theirs suck and are locked down to prevent abuse.
Normally I'd say there's no way that he would have a slip of the tongue that egregious, but then I remember the several credible eyewitnesses that made statements saying that he used the n-word in private many times. I think if he really is struggling with his mental faculties, it's possible he could slide right into a racist tirade without realizing his audience isn't just some rich folk or old white advisor dudes who might share his views.
I'm starting to forget that these things existed, because I'm old enough to remember a time when there was such a thing as a smoking/non-smoking section in restaurants but it feels like an entire lifetime ago that it was actually relevant to the point now where it would be a massive culture shock to see somebody light up indoors anywhere, let alone in a restaurant.
I like to point to indoor smoking bans and seatbelt laws as actual evidence of how a culture war backed up with science and facts can be sustained and won even against seemingly insurmountable odds to the benefit of society as a whole. In both of those cases, the data eventually won out against the multibillion dollar industries that were resisting regulation as well as the "muh freedom" crowd.
This interview was stunning. He whinged and moaned the whole time about being made to wait, technical issues, other news networks, and not having his ass kissed constantly by the hosts. He did not substantially answer even one single question, and used every opportunity to speak to go off the rails on immigrants and spew lies so blatantly false that the hosts could fact check him on the spot. No Donald, innocent people don't need pardons. No Donald, there is no such thing as a post-birth abortion. Holy Christ I cannot believe how absolutely fucking retarded Trump really is.
My favorite part was when he talked about how Kamala Harris is the worst vice president of all time and did a terrible job, but then shoved JD Vance under the bus and said that VP picks are just ceremonial and that they do nothing. Like, bro, which is it?
This is what they should do. Show up to a "debate", give Trump time to show up, start after a token amount of time has passed, and then just start answering the questions that the moderators ask with no need for a rebuttal. It turns from a debate into a televised town hall style presentation. Don't forget to interject that her opponent was too afraid to answer these questions at every opportunity.
So around the time Trump was running against Hillary Clinton in 2016 he also started saying some really bizarre shit like that right before the election. He started claiming that the whole thing was rigged against him, that he never stood a chance, etc. Things that you should probably never say as a serious candidate intending to win. This was partially to shield his own fragile ego, but also to open the floodgates for lawsuits and accusations of election interference/fraud if he lost. The idea being to extend the media frenzy past November and focus on Trump for even longer. He had run for office many times before that and enjoyed the pump from the media reporting on it. Trump is a narcissist that can't stand not being the center of attention.
I still genuinely think he doesn't actually want to do the job. He said stuff like "If we lose [in 2020] you'll never hear from me again!" and he spent most of his time in office on his own private golf courses. He ran again in 2020 because not running for a second term would make him seem weak, which he couldn't handle because it would damage his reputation as a strongman toughguy who never backs down. He's running again in 2024 to avoid going to prison, which might still happen anyway if the state cases are allowed to proceed/go to sentencing.
There's no chance he actually gives a shit about any of the problems he claims to want to fix. This is about him - enriching himself with the job at the expense of the American taxpayer, avoiding the legal consequences of his actions, and having his cult puff up his ego every second of every hour of every day.
Trump using the language of a tyrant is not an accident. When people say that democracy is on the line this election, we're not being hyperbolic, we're saying that because of statements like this. Please get out there and vote this November.
I wouldn't call them critical, no, but every vote matters. Especially in a demographic like former armed services. They represent a collective of voters across all 50 states and their voting trends are pretty unified in solidarity for candidates that recognize them and cater to their issues and interests. Sure, some are party hardliners and will vote D or R no matter what, that's true of any homogeneous group of people.
One thing Elon doesn't seem to understand is that no matter how many billions of dollars he spends to "combat the woke mind virus", it will never make his daughter love him. Accepting her and loving her unconditionally would, but that requires a level of emotional maturity that Elon simply doesn't possess and no amount of money can buy for him.
Rich people are far too often bankrupt in the matters of the heart and soul.
That guy has such an unfortunate name. I hear Shapiro and I immediately think of the right-wing pseudo-intellectual professional troll Ben Shapiro and wonder why the fuck would anybody want him on a ticket. I'm learning to not have such a visceral reaction to the name, but association is a bitch to overcome.
Mark Kelly is a great choice. Kamala needs someone who can win over the vets. Apparently Captain Bone Spurs still holds some sway with them.
For many late Gen Z'ers, this will be the first election they even get to vote. I remember being in high school and I couldn't wait to vote when I was 18 because I followed politics very closely. My peers on the other hand, not so much. For every kid at my school who was politically active enough to care about issues that mattered to them, there were about 4-5 more that were completely and utterly apathetic or didn't have a clue about the candidates or the issues.
The danger in assuming that people who are making the decision to vote now were somehow complicit with having Trump is that they may not have been aware of the problem to begin with. A lot of young eligible voters miss their first few elections because they haven't developed a political opinion beyond whatever their parents might think, they haven't taken the time to properly educate themselves on the issues, or there's still a disconnect between how the election results might affect them in their daily lives.
A fresh new candidate that is pumping energy into the race is getting young people motivated to vote, and that's a good thing. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.
Republicans think saying "We need to stop Trump" is inciting political violence, but think this guy saying shit like this is A-Ok.
Reminder to all the MAGA morons out there: Trump's coup only got as far as it did in 2021 because he was in charge and did nothing to stop it. If Biden is the one in control of handing over the reins, you can bet your ass he'll curbstomp insurrectionists. You'd be better off staying home for this "civil war" wet dream.
I only believed that because he preemptively made excuses as to why he wouldn't attend the last one. I'm sure he's glad he did now considering the outcome, but I wouldn't put it past him to simply opt to not take the risk debating Harris. People are quick to forget, he also performed badly during that debate, but everyone's focus was on Biden's apparent sundowning. He got away with one bad performance, but he probably won't be so lucky next time.
Bro, it's a GoPro. You'll get 20 minutes of 1080p footage and then the battery will die.
