  • This law is more than just paying news corporations isn't it? I remember reading about how there were some stipulations in there to stop companies from Cherry picking the articles that benefit them the most, while also hiding anything critical of themselves.

  • The money you pay into a mortgage doesn't evaporate. Only a portion of your mortgage is considered a cost (interest and fees and the like) the rest goes into your home equity.

If a tenants rent payment doesn't cover all of your mortgage, taxes and maintenance it does not mean your not making a profit.

  • Having read both, The Martian was very much a book I just simply put down (I lost so many hours of sleep because of it) whereas this one seemed decent.

If you liked the Martian, you'll like this one probably. There definitely was some weak moments, and the science portion, while crunchy sometimes, didn't hold up consistently.

    Worth a read.

  • I still use Reddit for the small subreddits. Highly focused topics seems to be the only way Reddit is tolerable now.

I also just picked up reading again. Turns out part of my enjoyment of Reddit was reading comments and when that went to shit just reading books worked out for me. On my third book since the fiasco started.

  • But hand sanitizer is only 99.9% effective. You still have millions of other men's dick germs on your hands, on your keyboard, in your mouth.

You cannot escape the dicks. No matter how unbathed you are.

    Dicks.

    Dicks.

    Dicks.

    Now they're in your eyes.

  • Grab fancy bottles of wine that are empty, fill with crap wine, reaffix the seal using mending. Move from town to town selling.

Or at least that's the theory. The real fancy wineries probably have some sort of arcane seal that mending won't repair.

Same thing with letters. Break the seal, read/replace contents, reseal.

    Mending can be really handy.

  • Nonsense. If you put the details that everyone needs to know in one message, and then update it as things change you'll just run into issues where various apps will consider it old news and drop it off.

It also relies on people to constantly check this one post for updates rather than having the updates pushed to them.

Linking allows them to have a resource that is constantly being updated while also being able to push it, and get it into people's feeds.

  • I think there's a lot of people who got turned off from commenting.

It was so easy to gain the attention of some deranged Redditor when you commented, it was often just not worth it. Maybe that mindset came here and people are still warming up to the idea.
