• When you unplug it while on, does it immediately turn off?
• What does it say battery percentage is when plugged in?
• In desktop mode, what does it say battery health is?

I don't usually use headphones with my deck, but I've paired my Pixel A-series buds to it and they work pretty well for discord calls.

Speed wise 55Mb/s is fine. Higher speeds are nice for game downloads/etc but that's plenty. I had to live with 3Mb/s until a couple years ago, and we were able to have multiple people watching Netflix/etc on different devices. Not 4k obviously, but surprisingly good video quality for the amount of data available.

The data cap could be a problem though. You'll probably be fine if you don't download many games, but that's an easy cap to hit these days.

True of most 3d prints unfortunately, although ultimately it comes down to your printer.

From looking at previous leaks, it looks like there will probably be two versions of the same device: One with windows and one with SteamOS.

I would assume so, but I haven't tried it.

Not everyone needs a steam deck. I know a couple people who have them and barely use them.

But for people like me, it's been a massive improvement to how often I'm able to play.

Yeah, I think a good approach to any type of government powers is considering that future presidents/parties you don't like will also have access to these powers.

I would absolutely love it if the threat of the future Trumps is a limiting factor on government overreach.

Fantastic, we're finally getting non-valve SteamOS devices.

The steam deck's suspend functionality really gives some crazy session count numbers.

Both wifi drivers are in the linux kernel and open source as far as I can tell.

LCD deck uses rtw88_8822ce, which has been in the linux kernel since 5/2019. Source code here

The Arch Wiki page on the Steam Deck is also a good source for this sort of thing, since it looks at what's needed to run standard Arch on the Deck.

I didn't think you should downgrade permanently, just was suggesting it as a temporary troubleshooting step for narrowing it down.

Most of the docks have an Ethernet port. But a lot of new deck owners won't have a dock and may not have a USB-C Ethernet adapter lying around.

What kind of issues do you have?

You might try disabling some wifi 7 features as well and see if that fixes things. Different routers will have different settings, but some will let you change the wireless mode from BE (wifi 7) to AX (wifi 6) or to AC (wifi 5). If you go to one of the older wifi modes and you still have issues, it may be a defective wi-fi card in the deck.

I'll try unpinning and repining it, maybe that will fix it.

The original poster of it was a lemmy.world user, and I've heard reports of some Lemmy instances having federation issues with .world lately. If you're instance is one of those having issues, you may not be able to see the post locally, but I'm not sure on the full details.

Brave has been surprisingly solid in my experience. I have noticed they tend to be lacking on image results though.
