  • I find that the quality of content and people always takes a sharp drop the bigger the community gets

  • Everyone saw this bullshit coming when she was announced for the position. Libs were too busy stepping on Cheetos to care.

  • Would be nice if that's the direction being taken.

  • Their failure will probably result in all social media becoming increasingly monitored and censored. The same people that call China evil for its great firewall now want their own firewall to avoid having to see anything painting Israel in a bad light.

  • 2050? They probably know this shit isn't going to happen and just put it out there to make it look like something is being done.

Next they'll say that fossil fuels will be phased out by 2075.

  • This is a pretty common story with anyone working in trades. Construction guys are usually putting in similar hours and you can see the exhaustion in them every time they weakly hobble to the bus stop. The benefits are better than what most local jobs are offering but it's hard on the body and that results in a high turnover rate.

  • A large chunk of the world does because of the omnipresence of US media. People will watch shows on Netflix and think the US looks exactly like what they see on tv.

It's not just the US either. The same thing happens with people who move to Japan and are largely inspired from years of watching anime. Soft power is extremely effective.

  • This came out of nowhere. I think everybody was expecting Dreamworks to make it with the "How To Train Your Dragon Team." This is such a stepdown from that and my hopes aren't high if this guy's only bragging rights are that God awful Uncharted movie.

  • It's so bizarre to see an American politician say good things about China without having to add, "BUUUUT THE CCP...."

  • Are macs still the status symbol they once were?

  • TikTok's biggest problem is that it pays people through a very limited pool of money that shrinks the more people become a part of it. It's pretty good pay if you live in a poorer country but it's pennies if you live in a developed one. Twitch is better but still lags behind Youtube. Facebook is said to pay as much if not a little more than Youtube but it's also much easier to get demonetized or have your content removed on there than Youtube.

  • The result of having a strong presence of US media in their everyday lives

  • I don't know if that's a good comparison to make with how the Iraq War protests turned out.

  • Stopskeletonsfromfighting has become one of my favorite gaming channels. Watched them since the HVGN days and they've only improved since.

  • Reddit techbros insisted that this was the future and I was being a luddite for saying that something like this was going to happen too often.

  • Absolutely disgusting. They'll hand wring about Xinjiang in one sentence and then do this in the next.

  • Spez will probably win that race with how niche Reddit is to begin with compared to Twitter
