  • In what area of AI? Image generation is increasing in leaps and bounds. Video generation even more so. Image reconstruction for games (DLSS, XeSS, FSR) is having generational improvements almost every year. AI chatbots are getting much much smarter seemingly every month.

What’s one main application of AI that hasn’t improved?

  • Relatively funny but gets worse the more you think about it.

    The 6 stands for 6, not 30.

When we have AM and PM it would be dumb to have 1-24.

1 is the end of the 1st hour. 2 the end of the second. This is why it starts at 0.

  • MS Paint doesn’t give you advanced features like background blurring/removal and object removal.

Why would I want more shit calling back to the mothership

They’re not “calling back to the mothership”. Why do you think they are?

When did I ever say that?

By being against them adding these features.

  • You don’t want to be able to easily edit photos on your personal machine?

You don’t want to be able to do a reverse image search right from explorer?

And you’re against people having the option to do these things…..why?

  • 💯

Surprisingly few seem to understand the difference between 90s Microsoft and Satya’s Microsoft. Under Satya Microsoft have completely transformed into a services company who aim to have their services run everywhere on absolutely everything. MS services on Linux is coming. Some people still can’t believe that Xbox games are releasing on PlayStation despite it being telegraphed for years.

EEE isn’t a thing they want to do anymore. They want to embrace every platform so they can dominate that market too - not by extending and extinguishing, but by being a one stop shop that no one else can match.

  • Microsoft don’t care what you run on azure, just that you’re using azure. In fact running Linux on azure instead of Windows benefits them because it’s more lightweight so their hardware stretches further.

  • You: “Let me explain Embrace, Extend, Extinguish to you”

Also you: clearly doesn’t understand what Embrace, Extend, Extinguish actually was

Microsoft aren’t trying to change Linux with proprietary things that only work on WSL. That would be EEE. Microsoft are just letting you run Linux inside Windows, so people who need or want Linux can do it on their Windows machine instead of also needing a Linux machine.

This won’t stop anyone who hates Windows from using a Linux machine, because this is inside Windows.

  • If you’re having to reinstall windows regularly you’re not very good at being the tech guy. I say this as someone who manages a support team for 50+ Windows machines, and who has been the tech guy for all my friends and family for decades. I can count the number of times I had to reinstall windows on one hand, with a few fingers to spare.

  • Yes, intent matters. Hamas, the internationally recognised terrorist organisation, committed terrorist act atrocities against Israelis and started this war. Israel rightfully will not stop until Hamas are not only removed from power in Gaza, but completely eliminated. That’s the “good faith” that Israel are acting in. If they just wanted to commit genocide they would have razed the whole place long ago.

That’s really all that needs to be pointed out - if they wanted to kill them all, they would have long ago. They have the means and opportunity to do so. They haven’t and they aren’t. Why do you think they’d draw it out while facing all this backlash? They’d just wipe them from the face of the earth and go “yeh we did it, what are you gonna do about it?”.
