  • Exactly. The level scaling in particular is what killed it for me. What is the point of even having a level up mechanic if your character doesn't actually get any stronger. Part of the fun of D2 was getting a character to a point where you could just stomp previous areas.

  • lemmy.ml has some absolutely draconian censorship. The word that was censored was probably b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t. (hopefullly it doesnt catch that). It's also quickly going full blown tankie.

If you want an instance that doesn't censor stuff like a club penguin chat and isn't run by people who regard Joseph Stalin as their personal hero then a good one to try is sh.itjust.works. I only use lemmy.world because it's the only one I could sign up for when I did. If I signed up now then I would probably go for sh.itjust.works or lemmy.dbzer0.com.

  • Give me a site that is readable and I will read it on the site. But I haven't encountered a site that wasn't bloated with enshitified web 2.0 BS in years. The instant I click on a link and I have to click off 5 pop ups and have an autoplaying video following me as I scroll then I'm gone. And that's with an ad blocker. I can't imagine how much more nightmarish most modern sites would be without one. As it is typically when I click a link I a shown to a moist dumpster where if I hunt around it enough I might find all the pieces of an article someone wrote. Even then the article is usually written for SEO not to be readable by people.

Give me a site where I can just click the link and read the article and I will hapily do so. I don't care about your newsletter. I don't care obout your cookie policy (read my browser settings). I don't care about the 10 unrelated celebrity gossip articles you are sticking in the middle of the one I am trying to read. Don't make me "click to continue reading". And that stupid video you have following me around is only driving me away.

  • I know. I count myself lucky live less than an hour away from it. My grandma has actually gotten flown in on mayo one before for an emergency (speaking of expensive bills).

My original comment was a joke because the top post was talking about the surgeon general going to one of their emergency rooms and op was talking about planning to go there by which they meant mayo clinic but it could also be read as them meaning the ER.

  • For most crimes I 100% agree. Rape is different though. There is no legitimate cause for rape. There is no frame of reference where rape is acceptable. The only reason you rape someone is because youre a rabid animal who is fundamentaly unfit to be in society. The only thing you can do with people like that is mitigate the risk they pose to others. In this case that would mean not allowing him to work somewhere where he has access to potential victims. In the post covid era that is incredibly easy with the supply of low skill remote work jobs.

  • He was found guilty both times he raped someone. Considering he served less than 2 years in prison for his last offence I highly doubt that changed him.

Also considering that he's a rapist I don't give a damn how he feels. Rape isn't like other crimes. You don't rape someone because you don't know any better. You don't rape someone out of necessity. You don't rape someone on accident. You rape someone because you're a rabid animal who has no place in society. You don't fix someone like that. You can only mitigate the risk to others.

  • The last time he raped someone he was in prison for less than 2 years. Considering that wasn't his first offence I highly doubt that changed him. Also HR is already aware. Apparently they fired the last person who brought it up to them.

  • This may be an unpopular opinion but as I see it most of D4s microtransactions are fine (still a trash game but that's a different point). They're mostly just cosmetics. They only exist so that people who want to can throw money at the company. If you don't want to buy them then just don't buy them. Like this portal recolor one. Sure it's $30 but it isn't like there is any advantage to buying it. It's not giving you faster warps to town or more xp or anything like that. It's only there for you to throw money at blizzard and have a graphic showing that you threw money at blizzard. If you don't want to throw $30 at blizzard for no gain then don't throw $30 at blizzard for no gain. If a bunch of whales want to throw away their money on cosmetics then let them.

  • I think they meant that if you were on top of yellowstone when it went off then you wouldn't have time to feel afraid. Your body would transition directly from being biology to being physics without even enough time to pass through being chemistry.
