  • Wind and solar are cheaper and easier to build. The nuclear power should have been built decades ago.

What is needed is an excess of wind and solar, improved international grind connections and hydrogen made during wind/solar spikes.

  • Canada

  • It's much more effective if they are grouped together waiting to catch the grenade. It also reveals the position of the soldiers in the trench.

Grenades aren't very effective in trenches, unless the victim is close by. The narrow shape and curves of the trench can shield a person from a nearby blast.

  • Beamer popular with people that need to add lots of equations. It's easier/quicker if you know your greek alphabet and have several equations.

Beamer is the slide equivalent of latex. Even among latex users, PowerPoint seems more popular. If you've written the paper and are going to present it, you can just take the equations from the paper as screenshots so the big advantage of beamer is nulled.

I think reveals target market seems to be web developers. It's html slides so might be easier if you want that workflow.

  • Most successful religions are highly evangelical. This is how they become religious. They also have the view that their way of worship is the only and correct way to worship. Otherwise, people would not have to follow that religion. These two ideas, crucial to the spread of a religion, are not compatible with tolerance.

In fact, if you genuinely believed that worshipping a God in a specific way was necessary or you would face eternal punishment. Would you not want to save everyone else from this. The do not see it as intolerance. They genuinely think they are helping you. Others just see it as their tribe and have a use Vs them attitude.

For Atheists it is easier to accept and welcome others. There's no punishment for it. So tolerance comes easy. It's also necessary for religions to demonise Atheists, to control their flock. So the historical cultural perception of Atheists is not one of kindness and tolerance. That's why it's seems novel that reality doesn't match that.

  • This is Google's end game messaging app. They want to replace text messaging and Google hangouts/allo/chat... were never going to cut it.

Its a chat app that doesn't look like one. It looks like the default sms app, you don't need anyone to download or make an account for it. There biggest hurdle was getting iOS users. They've now pressed apple into supporting it as well. They even have Apple state Google will help with their installation. We know Google pay apple billions every year to keep Google search the default on iOS, it even binds Apple to publicly and in court support the arrangements. I wouldn't be surprised if Google has paid billions just for RCS on iPhone. It will keep their marketing monopoly in place for a long time.

  • A judge may not see it that way. They may perceive it as Google failing to provide adequate protections to their users.

If user installed the app created by Google and did not share any login credentials. It's easy to claim Google is liable.

The equivalent would be a bank leaving the back door to their vault open. An intruder going in and removing your funds. Despite following all the banks instructions, the bank has not replaced the funds.

The banks is responsible for people gaining unauthorised access to your account. Especially when you don't share your login credentials with anyone (even unknowingly). If they can't protect against root access attacks then, they shouldn't permit use of their app on those devices.

Apps have convenience features, especially related to easy sign in. Their website logins don't have these features. They require the user to enter passwords, challenge codes, card reader etc. If someone gets access to a password manager, the user is at fault. The bank likely stated you shouldn't write down or record your password.

  • How many VPNs do you think are run by intelligence services. They seem to have very deep pockets for advertising and paying people to share links to their service.

It's the ideal candidate business for a spy agency. Not only do get wire tap level access. The targets come to you for it, especially those that would seek to avoid being spied on. They then provide you with bank details. Linking their online activity to a bank account.

  • A possible solution in a pinch is to get an already flat surface, ideally larger than your board. Cover it in something that will transfer (ink, paint, toner etc). Rub the face of the board you want to flatten across your flat surface**. The** transfer substance will pass onto the high spot in your board. Scrape, chissle or sand the high spots down slightly.

Repeat this until most of your board is marked by the transfer substance. Your board will be mostly flat (or at least as flat as the reference surface).

This technique is used in metal work, but it's labour intensive. For woodwork to achieve sufficient flatness planes are quicker and produce a better surface finish. But if you don't have any large ones, this method might work if your desperate and don't want to buy new tools.

For a less accurate flatness. Place the board on the flat surface and push in the board to fell the points in contact with the flat surface. Then take those parts down.

  • The control system and sensors algorithms would be developed by engineers (not software engineers). Then implemented by the software engineers. That is subsequently tested again by the non software engineers. It often auto coded from simulink models, requiring less input from software teams.

Most of the software development done by software engineers or developers in aircraft is scheduling, connecting pipes, data recording, networking etc. Keeping the aircraft flying is done by other engineers. These algorithms are more related to aircraft dynamics, electrical systems and sensor physics than algorithms used in software. Most control systems implemented are represented as analogue electronics, even when the engineers have only ever used digital systems for their control. In these cases knowledge of non-software topics are more important.

So it would still be people with degrees keeping the aircraft in the air. However, many of these roles could be accomplished by people who have non university qualifications or 4-5 year apprenticeships. But it's hard to teach the background maths involved during an apprenticeship as it's not being applied day to day and the other engineers skills may have atrophied compared to a university course. Degree apprenticeships do work well for this sort of thing.

  • When you allow an app functionality it can be exploited. Security comes through only allowing apps that are vetted and routinely monitored (apps stored and repositories do this). The only way around this is to extremely limit softwares access to the rest of the system, which impairs functionality. Even access to sensors can be exploited to spy on users and access passwords.

When Apple allows users in the EU to install different browsers PWA would have apple relinquish all control over vetting of how PWA can interact with the system. The new browser would now be responsible for this.

Apple won't be able to control it, but they will be liable in reputation for the damage that happens. Their walled garden doesn't only keep their users in, it keeps hostile actors out (for the most part). iPhone users expect this and may see it as a feature. The same way Linux users see their distros repository as a feature. Remove this security will devalue the device in the minds of many of their customers.

  • It would be a massive vector for malware. Without many options for Apple to fix if the users isn't using safari to access the PWA. One that many more people are likely to fall for as they exist outside of any marketplace, even third party ones.

Apple doesn't want to say this, as it makes iOS sound bad and it's users irresponsible.

  • Get an iPhone or a dumb phone.

Androids purpose is to generate ad revenue for Google. Everything else is there to server that goal. To get away from that you have to degoogle the phone. Phones using android without Google services are likely even worse for ads like fire os.

  • There always the option of sanctioning countries that don't sanction the target country.

This should already be happening to Russia. It should be a ratcheting strategy of continuing sanctions till Russia retreat back to their own borders.

  • Your right. Fascism is a nationalist ideology, that makes it hard to define across nations. Fascist Italy was different from fascist Germany. It was also of its time.

Russia isn't in these times and places so it's hard to pin down.

Russia biggest victory is the defeat of fascism. This makes it a big part of their valorisation. I don't think this makes Russia not fascist because the celebrate communism. It conflicts with their narrative to go against communism and national narrative is an important part of fascism far greater than anti-communism. The important part wasn't the anti-communism, rather an external enemy. Russia has this wether it be NATO, LGBT or Ukraine becoming less corrupt and more democratic.

Fascist also thought fascism was good and the future. People don't think this any more. Fascism means evil know even fascist thinks this and don't call themselves fascist.

Their is a growing right wing, anti-democratic, corrupt and populists movement. They don't have a name nor a clear ideology. They break conventions, dismiss or attack courts and subvert democracy. They exist in the West but they don't have a strong foothold. Johnson and Trump could easily be called proto-fascist, they have been allowed free reign and their is still strong opposition. But China, Russia and Israel are full blast down this path. They don't have a name but they will and Historians will see it as the second coming of Fascism or sparkling authoritarianism.
