The web browser would offer to do it for you. Know it can't. The Unser knows has to navigate through the settings.

I won't be surprised if Microsoft still makes it possible for edge to change the default without the user going into the settings.

Protestants came about at the same time printing and reading became more common. People came to understand the bible better. They found that their local priest or Catholic church wasn't representing the bible very well. Some priests couldn't read and were just making it up.

Catholics practice many things that go against the teachings in the bible. They worships false profits (saints, Mary, popes, etc). They practice religion with lots of ceremony and publicity. They also acted as gatekeepers to God, despite Jesus talking about having a personal relationship with God.

The Catholic church was caught out and many people were unhappy with it. So they left it in protest. Hence protestant being used to describe these new enlightenment era Christians.

A protestant would not think that leaving the Catholic church is abandoning God. They would have to see it as the right path to follow God. It's not consistent for a protestant to say they follow the teachings of Christ and the Catholic church is Christian. Any protestant saying Catholics are Christian hasn't put a great deal of thought into it. However, it would be appropriate for someone studying, categorising or discussing religions to call both Catholics and Protestant's Christians.

There is also a long history of discrimination between Catholics and Protestants. Protestants country's retained more of their own wealth and political decision making. Protestantism was more successful in places where literacy was higher. Both these factors lead to protestant countries being wealthier, more prosperous and lead to earlier and more successful industrialisation. This created the situation that many people were immigrants from Catholic countries to protestant ones. Like today, they faced discrimination. The religious difference of the incoming immigrants heightened the conflict. This also made it easier for people in both religions to see it as separate and different.

They would have to set it up before leaving. Or have someone in the household change their router settings to enable it and share the details with them.

If you ever look at local WiFi networks in most residential areas you will see 90%+ use the default router supplied by thier isp. Also using the default SSID and password printed on the router. Most wouldn't even venture into the routers web page to change the settings. So the likelihood someone would configure this is low.

If you don't already, change your default WiFi SSID and password. It makes it easier to share with visitors, you can use the same ones when you switch routers (saves reconfiguring all devices). It also removes the possiblity of your ISP leaking the SSID and password to anyone. If it's been printed, then it isn't encrypted when stored. Many ISPs have lost lots of customers data in breaches, many of which they resit making public.

There is lots of web based guis. These are accessed on a separate device on the same network (or internet). These use very little resources, all the rendering is done on the client web browser.

This is a common misconception. Phillips was not supposed to solve over torquing. It was designed to allow higher torques, stop slipping and self centre. It was only really good at self centering.

A screw designed to stop it being over toqured is a terrible idea. The screw should be smaller to prevent if higher torque is needed. If over torque is an issue then reducing the power to the driver is a much better solutio (easily done in industrial setting Phillips was designed for). You can also reduce the size of the screwdriver supplied.

Posidrive is very common in the UK. Especially in trades. They are so common screwdriver sets will include posi and slotted with no Philips. Philips is still common in electronics.

Posidrive is much better than Phillips, but just as easy to quickly screw lots of things. Torx and hex take longer to align and have many more sized drive ends. Posidrive has three sizes and 90% of them are number 2. But if you need more torque then they are no good. But at that point you need to switch to a different tool like an impact or wrench.

A washing machine I recently had to repair had three different sizes of torx and it isn't obvious which one till you test fit. Posidrive is easy to identify the size by eye and many different screw diameters share the same posi head. Coupled with self alignment they are just more convenient. I have Robertson bits from multipacks but never needed them.

Logic is a terrible way to solve problems. We wasted thousands of years on it before we figured out empirical approaches are better.

Asus puts a lot of their advertised features behind accepting terms and conditions that have them harvesting and selling your data. You can not agree to it and still use the device. But many of the advertised features won't work.

Same account different servers would mimic discord. So you have one app, but the communities or 'discord server' can be their own instance. If it's mimicking discord it will keep all the message boards private to users like discord, but it could still benefit from Lemmy/Mastodon integration. Many communities have a discord and a sub Reddit having the same account on both may be valuable to some people.

I don't know the state of voice and video calls in the fediverse, it seems to be the main benefit of discord. Otherwise discord is just a terrible closed version of forums/subreddit/communities.

A big part of it is also letting other people know you did it. China and Russia are big on this. The create dangerous situations, then say they aren't responsible all while sowing confusion. The want plausible deniability, confusion and credit for doing it.

Could be Chinese creating reasonable doubt. Making this sort of mistake makes explanations that this wasn't Chinese sound plausible. Even if evidence other than the name comes out, this rebuttal can be repeated and create confusion amongst the public, reasonable suspicions against accusers and a plausible excuse for other states to not blame China (even if they believe it was China).

Confusion and multiple narratives is a technique carried out often by Soviet, Russian and Chinese government. We are unlikely to be able to answer the question ourselves. It will be up to the intelligence agencies to do that.

If someone wanted to blame China for this, they would take the name of a real Chinese person to do it. There is over a billion real people they could take a name from. It unlikely that a person creating a name for someone for this type of espionage would make a mistake like picking an implausible name accidentally.

There isn't a replacement in place for Putin that would be any different. Everyone that thinks and acts different is kept away from power in Russia. Pushed out of windows, deaths in prison or the aircraft falls out of the sky. There is a possibility that he is replaced by someone worse.

It's much better if he is removed from power by Russians. The next leader has to be different and havs the support of the people. Intelligence services taking him out won't achieve this. Your likely to get an extremists that tries to escalate the war in Ukraine.

Because you could, you could argue you forgot. It's a way to get around it. It's easier if apple controls who fixes phones.

It's easier to block the part checking for individual parts than the entire os. You would still have people with bricked phones once they got home and the faulty part phones home.

If apple didn't do this their phones would be stolen at a very high rate. Especially from tourists. The phone would also get a reputation for being stolen. Or stopped working once you got home from the repair store.

Apple sells the convince of a device that works reliably. This makes it of very high value. Especially to those that don't want to worry about their tech. So apples repair methods keep this value. If they changed their phones would be less valuable to most consumers. If this wasn't the case then fair phone would outsell iPhones.

The phones are still repairable, but it's restricted to apple and those apple have authorised to do it. The solution is to make repairs cheaper, not make interchangeable parts. It doesn't work on the scale apple operates, for devices of significant value that can be pick pocketed and shipped to another country.

Many children are being radicalised by online content, like the criminal Andrew Tate becoming popular among teenagers.

Most people aren't fact checking anything online. They are far more likely to start believing conspiracy theories or outright false narratives.

I think the government should be going after service providers and advertiser's that knowing and deliberately target children with content that isn't curated by a suitable authority for the children's age group.

Previously we had librarians and TV channels to regulate children's media. Responsible people making reasonable judgements about the content a child should be targeted with.

That isn't the case anymore. Social media allows people and organisations direct access to children with no accountable authority in-between. Children are watching content that the child knows they shouldn't be watching. The producer and the service provider also knows this too. So children will place concert effort to avoid it being detected.

They all know that they are making content for children. Even when they're making content that the know isn't suitable for them. The people behind prime energy drink wanted to sell alcoholic drinks. They revealed in a podcast they didn't because they knew there was no market for it as their audience was far too young. Despite this they continue to make content that uses frequently sexual and violent humour. They also use and play with racism and sexism in their content.

Regulate the market and the problem will dwindle away. Their is entire businesses set up to pray on the attention of children.

There would be an excuse that your using your friends components to fix the phone. But they didn't deregister it. It would be enough to create a viable business.

Repairers could use stolen parts and the owner wouldn't know until apple locked their device.

It can be stopped by controlling the internet traffic to the device. Various methods, even simple DNS systems. Especially in developing economy organised crime can get cooperation with phone networks to do this.

For organised crime this problems can be worked out. But it very difficult to workaround a whitelist of only one part.

Other manufacturers don't have the same issue as their phones don't last as long. Nor do they have as high a resale value. Old iPhones still sell well 5+ years after release.

Google will give you big discounts for trading in iPhones that were cheaper than pixels when released when they won't offer you anything but recycling for an equivalent year pixel. All because the iPhone resale value remains so high.

That's a good approach for a single device. But for millions it's not as good. Apples current approach significantly reduces theft and the industry around theft of their phones.
