This post was for (quoting OP) "berating [his] ideological opponents because they are losers". Because, (quoting OP) "to be taken seriosly offline [they] would need to present well-researched [...] arguments". So they do it on Lemmy.
In what world is this meme of any actual value? Generalizing Lemmy as leftist for their agenda, as was admitted in this case (what else could this meme be for?) is not in any way productive, is it?
(Actual queation): Why would you say its in my self-interest to vote for a left party (which would generally mean paying even more that the current 45% income taxes)?
Says who? I'm all for open source (and even actively contribute), and I do not have a left-leaning political stance. Loving open source does not mean that I want to raise taxes, or that I want gendering to be a thing (theres an issue in languages that dont have a gender-neutral plural).
Why couldnt one be conservative and like free software at the same time?
just berate my ideological opponents because they genuinely are losers
Im astonished at how closed-minded and brainwashed you seem. Maybe actually think about why you would fight for a opinion that is not based on "well reasoned and researched arguments"... It really seems like youre arguing for another person's opinion rather than having your own.
Those are issues that are relevant in YOUR region so why do I have to discuss them? Politics are regional and Lemmy is a worldwide space. The majority of Lemmy is from outside of the USA, yeah we can talk a bit about US politics but not all the damn time.
It sure does but why do we have to bring up political topics (or rather: US politics) all the time? Whats the point in discussing politics (which are always regional) with people that dont even understand it or care (because I doubt you could give educated opinions on the politics of more than a handful of countries)...
And then people like OP feel entitled to generalize all of the people using Lemmy from all over the world as "Leftists" just because some peoole with certain political views cant stop pushing every debate into a political direction.
There are people that choose to be homeless but there are countries where you have the right not to be homeless. In the country I live in (in central Europe) you can literally go to a facility that will give you a place to sleep and some food.
Also, to become homeless as a person that once worked is not that easy, you would have to deny multiple job offers (the state will go job hunting for you and present you with a few options). During that time you would still get unemployment money.
... so when the next night comes, you cant sleep again because of the coffee you drank during the day to stay awake. Sooooo... you drink more coffee the next morning becuse you only got 3 hours again
And just to add to the others pount, yesterday my monitor was accidentally set to 50hz and I immidiazely noticed the difference to 60hz. Because fast movements arent blurred (they arent supposed to be), they look choppy.
Actually yes, I have had civil discussions with hard-lefts and with nationalistic right-wingers. I dont live in the US, no, how did you guess?
