Folks sail the high seas for lots of reasons. Some people can't afford entertainment otherwise. Some people like the challenge. Some do it for political reasons as an act of resistance against corporate greed. Some do it because they want to and nothing more. Don't make the mistake of assuming everyone else here has the same motives as you.

Capitalism is at the heart of your question. Art should be valued. Artists should be paid. Neither of those things requires capitalism or copyright laws. If as a society we funded artists properly none of this would an issue. The line that copyright is good for artists is total bullshit. It's a smokescreen that corporations use to prop up the system they created and benefit the most from.

I wonder if any mods/admins have data for which instances’ users are most prone to violating which instance/community rules. Pretty consistently, it’s predominantly dbzer0 and blahaj that I’ve personally seen posting Al content in places where it is specifically against the rules.

I don't have a lot more to contribute, since db0 did such a good job of summarizing everything. Just wanted to mention that I really enjoy being able to hang out in the community we have grown into. And also a big shoutout to the other admins, who are an exceptionally thoughtful, sincere and hard working bunch of people - it's been a great pleasure getting to know y'all and thanks for donating your time and expertise to keep the ship afloat.

I've been using it for years, and switched to that repository soon after the previous versions were taken down. No issues with it afaik, and I'm very grateful to the developers for keeping it going.
